I snore! Now, that isn’t uncommon for men or some women, but my snoring was preventing Sevilla from obtaining a full night’s rest, which also isn’t uncommon for women or some men.
We were temporarily staying in a motel in Susanville, CA, while we tried to determine our future plans. Having moved to Susanville, at God’s direction, our hopes, for finding a permanent house to rent and church to attend were frustrated, forcing us to remain in a confined motel room for a month until moving across the Sierra Nevada mountains to Brownsville.
Conscious that my snoring kept Sevilla awake, I tried all sorts of things to quiet my breathing, but nothing helped.
I’m not unmindful of Sevilla’s need for a restful night’s sleep, thus, I prayed that the Lord would either give her a death ear at night or prevent my snoring. He did neither of these things and for a week we remained frustrated, growing increasingly tired.
On the seventh day, a motel maid, while cleaning our room, mentioned that there were several larger rooms with two bedrooms at the same motel.
Talking with the motel manager, after mentioning that we planned to stay until the end of the month, another three weeks, he offered to rent one of these larger rooms that came equipped with two dressers with drawers, at the same price we were currently paying. We jumped at the opportunity.
Placing a fan between the bedrooms, that helped to mask my snoring, Sevilla gained a good night’s rest and I rested better knowing that my snoring wasn’t keeping her awake.
This is another example of how the Lord is mindful of our needs and His willingness to satisfy them. While He did not cause my snoring to cease, He made it possible for Sevilla to sleep soundly, undisturbed by my breathing.
