Answer 46 The Squeaky Feet

When God and Christ formulated the plan of salvation, it was evident that Christ would need to come to earth to demonstrate God's character of love. Humanity could not discern His character from a far but must see it close up, lived in the life of our Savior. Thus, Christ calls his children to live among those whom he desires to reveal his love. This often involves enduring inconvience and uncomfortable circumstances but our Master, Christ, endured the same on our behalf.

Accepting Mr. Lee's invitation to relocate to the pink Kozee, we were assured that we would find all to our liking. He was not exactly correct in his assessment of his motel.

We were first astonished to discover that a motel of forty rooms was served by only one telephone line which required rationing of calls and their length. At least Netty, with her seven rooms, had two phone lines.

Next, we were amused to discover that the Kozee did not have any maid service which explained the dirty condition of the room when we occupied it. However, this may turn out to be a blessing as we won't be interrupted by daily maid visits.

On the second day of our residence, the propane water heater, located in our closet, began emitting noxious fumes, especially when the room is closed against the early morning cold.

Exceptionally loud people inhabit the parking lot at this motel.

Someone upstairs is endeavoring to locate every squeaky board in the room and depressing them as often as possible for our amusement.

What's next at the Kozee?

However, as missionaries, fulfilling the great commission, can we complain if all things are not as we would desire? Christ, our pattern and example, endured the same discomforts to accomplish our salvation. If we are called upon to endure discomforts in his cause in order to manifest His character of unconditional love to those who might not otherwise have the opportunity to discern it, can we complain? Unfortunately, yes, we can and do complain. We have yet to learn godly patience, but Christ is teaching us.

When Christian encounter unusual problems right after receiving an unusual blessing it is an evidence of Satan's displeasure. Also, when Christians are doing God's will and are plagued with problems, it is probably Satan who is attempting to discourage us from doing the work God assigned to us. In both instances, the appropriate response is praise.

Praise the Lord!
