There are many pros when it comes to the decision to neuter and/or spay your cat. Here are just a few:
- A neutered male is less likely to roam, fight and spray to mark his territory. He is also more likely to live longer.
- A neutered male is less likely to get reproductive system cancer and other diseases.
- A spayed female is a more affectionate and loving pet because her energy is not directed toward finding a mate. You will also be protecting your female against some forms of cancer as well as sexually transmitted infectious diseases if she is allowed to roam outdoors.
- Neutering before sexual maturity will help to keep the cat "kittenish" - playful and friendly and people-oriented.
- Millions of unwanted kittens and cats are euthanized every year. If kittens are plentiful, overwhelmed shelters cannot give them a chance at adoption.
