This is Lola and her Companion, Ez2chat2. They are the Guardians of IRC (Internet Relay Chat) Rooms and they work together to protect against channel takeover attempts and trouble makers. They came here from The Rising Sun Adoption Center and were specially trained by Sunni for this position. They aren't their real names but this is the world of IRC - a world of nicknames, strange abbreviations, friendships, popups, sound files, emoticons, lag, netsplits and constant confusion. It's a strange but wonderful world - just ask any one of the thousands of people who keep coming back day after day, night after night. No matter what time of day or night you log on, there is always someone around to talk to - perhaps this is the real reason why so many friendships are formed on IRC - there is always someone to laugh with, a joke to be told, an ear to listen, a shoulder to cry on, a hand to hold.
People from all over the world meet in chat rooms (channels) and find that although there are many differences in culture, weather, time, conditions and language, they can all be friends and respect each others differences. IRC could eventually become one of the strongest weapons in eliminating prejudice in the world and working towards World Peace.
I've been chatting on IRC for over 2 years now and during that time, I've met many wonderful people from all over Australia and from all parts of the world. Some of these people I originally met in my own channel #Aussie40plus which is now closed - others I've met in #Tills40+crowd - the channel that I now spend my IRC time in. If you'd like to meet some of these people, there is a webpage for each of the channels. If you'd like to learn some of the IRC abbreviations, just click here.
Visit #Aussie40plus webpage and meet some of my online friends.
Visit #Tills40+crowd webpage and meet some more of my online friends.
The Guardians, Lola and Ez2chat2, came from here.
(Thank you very much, Sunni.)
