Thomas Jefferson
Thomas Jefferson
One time, there was a flying show, demonstrating airplanes. Small, single engine, single wing ones. They offered free rides to anyone who would like to go up. After much coaxing, Dad agreed to go up. The pilot really gave him a ride. Loops, dives, upside down, you name it he did it. When they finally landed, poor Dad was as white as a sheet and quite ill. Needless to say, Dad never flew again, that I know of(story told by Uncle Vince).
Grandpa was a farmer when he first married, later he worked for Samuel Deuel's Lumber yard until his retirement. He is buried in Pine Plains.
My grandmother was a school teacher before she married. She used to ride the trains to get to the one room schoolhouses. In later years she taught the alter boys latin and helped me with my school work. What I remember most, is grandma always made me a baked potato because that was the only kind of potato I would eat. She also taught and played with me, "I'm a little tea pot". Grandma is also buried in Pine Plains.
