HRH Princess Two
"I Just Can't Wait to be King"

HRH Princess Two

Hello. My name is Two, but I prefer to be addressed by my title, HRH Princess Two.

I was born in Mathews, Virginia, purportedly the daughter of a feral cat named Leftover and a traveling salesman. I say "purportedly" because, while Leftover was definitely my mother, I have always been convinced that my father was a king and that I was stolen from the royal nursery when I was an infant.

There was certainly an element of mystery surrounding my birth. Leftover had a litter of kittens every spring, and she always hid them until they were six to eight weeks old. When they were old enough, she would introduce them to the humans who were feeding her and they would find good homes for the babies.

Well, the day I was born (April 18, 1987), Mom did something really unusual. When I was only minutes old, Mom carried me through the cat door into the humans' house and dropped me in my Aunt Sandy's hand. She rested for a few minutes, then went outside and came back with my brother, Possum. After another rest, she retrieved my sister, Lucy. Each time, she dropped us in Aunt Sandy's hand.

No one knows for sure why she did this. There was speculation at the time that there was some danger outside and Mom simply decided to move us to a safe place. However, I think I know the real story. We were born in the royal nursery and Mom wanted to spare us the hassle of being raised as "royals." So she spirited us away and hid us with the humans.

I am grateful to Mom for finding a home for me that is out of the public eye. However, blood will tell, and I am clearly of royal lineage.

I live in Baltimore now, queen of my own domain, but I still visit Mathews several times a year. The feral colony is gone. Those who survived the great epedemic of 1988 were spayed/neutered and adopted. Some of my relatives live with Aunt Sandy, so we always have a family reunion when I'm in town.

My Kingdom by the Sea

Mathews is a very scenic part of Virginia, a rural county
bordering on the Chesapeake Bay.
I was born within sight of the New Point Comfort Lighthouse. Built in 1806, this is the third oldest lighthouse on the Chesapeake Bay.

Wolftrap is also visible from my birthplace, but only on very clear days.

The birds in Mathews tend to be large, which is not a bad thing in a cat kingdom. However, my human Mom does worry that one of these giants might mistake me for breakfast someday, so she never allows me outside without a body guard.

One of the nice things about Mathews is that there is alot of natural litter everywhere. Of course, this is by royal decree.

Other creatures live in my kingdom and, for the most part, it is a peaceful coexistence.

Thank you for visiting my kingdom by the sea. I am an expatriot -- a princess in exile -- but I still take pride in the natural beauty of my homeland.
