The Doges Palace was home to the Duke and the ruling body politic of Venice. It was built to show the wealth and power of Venice. The architecture is Gothic with paintings made to look like frescos. A secret door led to the bridge of Sighs the last look of a condemned man at Venice. Do we all have a Bridge of Sighs to pass over?
The Campanile was built in the 10th Century but collapsed and rebuilt in 1912. The bells still toll on the hours. Glass blowing remains an art in Venice along with lace making two islands are devoted to the crafts.
