OBFCC Youth Plan for Life After High Schoolby Duhran Abraham Wilson Open Bible Faith Community Church Youth are looking at college, even at an early age. Many even have major subjects of study already chosen along with three top choice for post high school education. Sydne Fullbright, a student at Milpitas High School and LaShay Lundy, a student at Pioneer High School are both looking at professions in healthcare. Aja Walker, a student at Wilcox High School is considering a career in fashion design. With a black college tour planned for spring 2001, some are considering the alternative of a Historically Black College such as Grambling and Southern University, while others are opting to stay closer to home studying at UC Berkeley and Stanford. "Our young people can do anything, they put their mind to." said Mishelle Neverson, a mother and usher at Open Bible Faith Community Church, "They just need to focus, concentrate, and realize college is not a recess, High School type thing. This is life." |
