      The above photo of three men shad fishing in the Delaware River near Lambertville, New Jersey includes a picture of Lyman Stout who is the most senior family member for which a photo is currently available. The photo includes the following: (Left to Right) Lyman Stout (4) & his two nephews, William "Bulligan" Stout (8) and Russell "Bink" Stout (10). This photo was taken in ca. 1940. My direct ancestors and descendants are shown in BLUE. Anyone with information or questions on this family can email me.

Daniel Stout, (1)

      Daniel, (1) is currently the senior family member known. He married Susanna whose maiden name and parent’s names are currently unknown. Both of their names were taken from the death certificate of their son John R., (2). It is assumed that they resided in Pennslyvania since that is where John (2) lists his birth. Nothing further is known about this family group. 2.* John R. Stout, b. Jan, 1855, d. Dec 16, 1901

John R. Stout, (2)

      John, (2) was born in Jan, 1855 in Pennslyvania. His grave stone shows the year 1852, however other records have proven that in error. He married Rachel Servis who was born in Feb, 1858 also in Pennslyvania. Her parents & siblings are unknown at this time. John (2) and Rachel lived on 74 York Street in Lambertville according to the 1900 census. The 1900 census also shows that his son John (3), his wife Minnie & their son William (8) lived with them. John's (2) occupation is noted as "Bootmaker" on this death certificate. John (2) died on December 16, 1901 at the age of 46. His wife Rachel died in 1940 at the appx. age of 82.       Family Notes: Lyman (4) married a Moonan and they didn't have any children. Nothing further is known of Lily (6). A Stanley Stout who married Mary Culver & resided in Titusville is noted by some family members as being a relative. Stanley could have possibly been the oldest son of John (2). However he is not shown as a son of John (2) in the 1900 census.

John Nelson Stout, (3)

      John, (3) was born the 1st child and 1st son of John R. (2) & Rachel (Servis) Stout in September, 1878. He married Minerva J. Kroesen who was born the daughter of Edgar S. & Anne M. (Lewis) Kroesen in September, 1878. The Kroesen's resided at 53 North Franklin Street in the early 1900's. After their marriage they first resided with John's (3) father at 74 York Street in Lambertville. They later moved to 260 North Union Street. John (3) worked in the Rubber Mill in Lambertville making "Snag-proof" boots. The birth certificate of his son Russell (10) shows his occupation as "Bootmaker". John (3) must have started working with his father John (2) since his father was also noted as a "Bootmaker". John died in 1932 at appx. 54 years of age. His wife Minerva died in 1943 at appx. 65 years of age. They are both interred in Riverview Cem., Lambertville and together they had 8 Children.   8.* William Edgar Stout, b. Oct 17, 1898, d. Frederick L. Stout, (5)

      Frederick, (5) was born the 5th child & 4th son of John R. (2) & Rachel (Servis) Stout in Oct., 1887 Frederick (5) married Carrie V. H. ( ). She was born in 1889. Her parents names are unknown at this time. Frederick (5), like his older brother John (2), worked in the Rubber Mill making boots. Fred (5) died in 1967 & was interred in the Riverview Cem., Lambertville. His wife, Carrie, died in 1968 & was interred next to her husband. It is unknown at this time whether or not they had any children.

Bertha Stout, (7)

      Bertha, (7) was born the 5th child and last dau of John R. (2) and Rachel (Servis) Stout in April, 1896. She married John Sproat whose parents and birth dates are unknown. The death dates of Bertha & John, as well as where they are interred is unknown. They are believed to have had one child together. 16.   Marion Sproat

William Edgar Stout, (8)

      William "Bulligan", (8) was born the 1st child & 1st son of John Nelson (3) & Minerva J. (Kroesen) Stout on October 17, 1898 in Lambertville. He was married twice. He 1st married Myrtle Crum in 1917. She was the daughter of Henry Crum. Her mother’s name is currently unknown. After their divorce he then married Josephine H. Radeer on November 11, 1947 in Lambertville. She was born in Peirmont, NY on August 17, 1903. Her parents names are unknown at this time. During both marriages William (8) resided in Lambertville. He died on May 10, 1967 in Lambertville & was interred in the Riverview Cem., Lambertville. His first wife Myrtle, from whom he was divorced, died February 3, 1972 in the home of her son John (17) in Lambertville & she was interred in the Riverview Cem., Lambertville. His second wife Josephine died May 2, 1985 of a Heart Attack in Lambertville & was interred next to her husband. William (8) & Myrtle had 2 children together and William and Josephine had 4 children together. A photo of "Bulligan" (8) can be seen on the first page of this document.

Purcell Stout Family

Purcell Stout, Sr., (9)

      Purcell "Pay", (9) was born the 2nd child and 2nd son of John Nelson (3) and Minerva J. (Kroesen) Stout in 1900 in Lambertville. He was married to Emma Hayes who was the daughter of James Hayes. Her dates and her mother’s name are currently unknown. Together they had one child. 23.   Purcell Stout, Jr.

Russell Stout

Russell Stout, (10)

      Russell, (10) was born the 3rd child and 3rd son of John Nelson (3) and Minerva J. (Kroesen) Stout on February 8, 1903 at 260 North Union Street in Lambertville. He was known by friends and family as "Bink" or "Stouty". He married Edith Elizabeth Shepherd on February 21, 1923 in Elkton, MD. She was born the daughter of Harry Jacob and Amanda Carver (Howell) Shepherd on July 13, 1905 at 264 North Union Street in Lambertville. (See the "Shepherd" and "Howell" Family History by this Author) As children, Russell (10) and Edith played together since they were born and lived only two houses apart in Lambertville. They lived in multiple houses in Lambertville during their marriage, the last being 22 Elm Street. Russell (10) worked in the Union Paper Mill in New Hope, Pa until his death. He was a member of the Top Rock Club, St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, enjoyed Shad fishing on the Delaware and was an avid baseball player in his younger years. His baseball playing team mates included his brother Edgar (14) and his brother-in-law Harry Jacob Shepherd, Jr. Edith worked most of her years at home raising her children. She also worked as a clerk in a store on Union Street in Lambertville. She enjoyed playing Bingo and was an avid member of the Patriotic Order of American's Lodge (P.O.A.). She served one year as the National President of the P.O.A. Russell (10) evidently suffered a Heart Attack while home in bed on December 8, 1965. He later died in the Hospital in Trenton at the age of 62. He was interred in the Riverview Cem., Lambertville close to his daughter Vivian (24) and his brother Edgar (14) who died later. Edith was found stricken in her home by friends on Thursday, January 20, 1994 and was taken to the Doylestown, PA hospital where she died later that night of a stroke at the age of 88.       Edith "Ted", (11) was born the 4th child and 1st daughter of John Nelson (3) and Minerva J. (Kroesen) Stout on September 15, 1905 in Lambertville. She was married to Edward Joseph Barry whose parents and birth date are unknown. They had 6 children together.

      Family Notes: Hannah (30) died when only a few months old and was interred in Trenton. Edith "Lorraine" (33) died at the age of two and is interred in Riverview Cem., Lambertville.

Elmer Pickett Stout, (12)

      Elmer "Dopey", (12) was born the 5th child and 4th son of John Nelson (3) and Minerva J. (Kroesen) Stout on June 11, 1908 in Lambertville. He married Reba M. Johnson on January 14, 1930 in Allentown, Pa. She was born on June 17, 1913. Her parents names are unknown. Elmer (12) is believed to have been named after Elmer K. Pickett (#19 of Pickett Fam.) son of John S. and Louisa J. (Everitt) Pickett. Elmer preceded his wife in death, however the date is unknown. Reba died on December 2, 1981 at the age of 68. They are both interred in Riverview Cem., Lambertville. Together they had 4 children.

      Family Notes: Joyce (38) was never married and died of a Heart Attack in Lambertville at the age of 48 and is interred in Riverview Cem., Lambertville.

Dorothy Shaniger Stout, (13)

      Dorothy, (13) was born the 6th child and 2nd daughter of John Nelson (3) and Minerva J. (Kroesen) Stout on January 17, 1911 in Lambertville. Family members referred to her as "Aunt Dar" and "Aunt Norji". She married Walter Stephen Voorhees on January 12, 1929 in Elkton, Md. Walter was born the son of William and Margaret (Heart) Voorhees on July 14, 1907. Dorothy (13) worked as a homemaker. Walter was a farmer. Walter died on August 21, 1992 in Freeman, VA and he was cremated. Dorothy is currently residing in a nursing home in Virginia. Together they had 3 children.

Mitty Stout

Edgar Studdiford Stout, (14)

      Edgar "Mitty", (14) was born the 7th and last child and 5th son of John Nelson (3) and Minerva J. (Kroesen) Stout on February 6, 1913 in Trenton. He was never married and never had any children. Mitty (14) served in the US Army Medical Corps during World War II. He was a member of the Leni Lenape Lodge, Independent Order of Odd Fellows and an honorary member of Columbia Fire Company 4 (Volunteer). He had been noted as a baseball player, playing left field on the former Top Rock Baseball Club along with his brother Russell (10). Mitty (14) was a founder of, and also an avid supporter and umpire for many years of the Lambertville Little League along with umpiring at the local High and Prep Schools. He also was a manager of the former Lambertville Indians. He worked for the State of New Jersey on the Highways. Mitty (14) became ill at his home on Delevan Street on January 6, 1970 and was taken to the Flemington hospital. He died the next day on Thursday, January 7, 1970 at the age of 56 while still in the hospital. He was interred in the Riverview Cem., Lambertville close to his brother Russell (10) on Saturday, January 9, 1970.

John Henry Stout, (17)

      John "Red", (17) was born the 1st child and 1st son of William Edgar, Sr. (8) and Myrtle (Crum) Stout on January 28, 1918 in Lambertville. He married Irene Minnie Hoagland on March 4, 1947 in Lambertville. She was born the daughter of Eugene and Gertrude Elizabeth (Allen) Hoagland on February 25, 1928 in New Hope, Pa. After their marriage they resided in Lambertville where they still reside. Together they had 6 children.

Robert William Stout, (18)

      Robert, (18) was born the 2nd child and 2nd son of William Edgar, Sr. (8) and Myrtle (Crum) Stout on March 10, 1919 in Lambertville. He married Teresa Celine Dooey in Clough Mills County, Antrim North Ireland. She was born the daughter of Patrick and Catherine (Blayney) Dooey on July 20, 1926 in Ireland. William Stout, Jr., (19)

      William, (19) was born the 3rd child and 3rd son of William Edgar, Sr. (8) and the 1st child and 1st son of Josephine R. (Radeer) Stout on March 5, 1926. William's (19) birth certificate shows only "William Stout, Jr." without the middle name "Edgar" like his father. Later William (19) was baptisted with the name "William Martin Stout", however, he uses the name from his birth certificate as shown above. He married Katherine Prutzman who was born on August 11, 1931 the daughter of Marguerite Wilson. They reside in Stockton, NJ and together they had two children. 50.   William Stout, III

      Margaret "Peggy", (20) was born the 5th child and only daughter of William Edgar, Sr. (8) and the 3rd child and only daughter of Josephine R. (Radeer) Stout. Her birth date is unknown. Alfred Michael Stout, (21)

      Alfred, (21) was born the 5th child and 4th son of William Edgar, Sr. (8) and the 3rd child and 2nd son of Josephine R. (Radeer) Stout in 1932. He married Marilyn Miller whose birth date and parents names are unknown. Alfred (19) was killed in an automobile crash in 1955 at the age of 23 and is interred in Riverview Cem., Lambertville. Together they had three children.

Emma Virginia Stout, (25)

      Virginia "Ginny", (25) was born the 2nd child and 2nd daughter of Russell (10) and Edith Elizabeth (Shepherd) Stout on July 25, 1925 in Lambertville. She married John Ernest Pickett, Jr. (See the "Pickett" Fam.) on August 24, 1946 in St. Anne's Episcopal Church in Lambertville. He is the son of John Ernest, Sr. and Winnie Ann (Bacon) Pickett and was born on April 21, 1924 in New Hope, Pa. (See the "Bacon" Family)
      "Ginny" (25) attended Lambertville 3rd Ward School on the corner of Perry and Main Street through the 8th grade (This building is now a Senior Citizen Center (1994)). She then attended Lambertville High School on the hill through 11th grade. She started working at Hosiery Mill on Cherry Street during the summer after she completed 11th grade and never went back to finish 12th grade. She did so to help her parents during the War years.
      After her marriage to John they moved to Lancaster, PA due to John attending Millersville State Teachers College in Millersville, PA. Their first son John, Jr. (67) was born while they were in Lancaster. They then moved to High Street in Odessa, Delaware due to her husband, John, obtaining a job as a teacher in Warner Junior High School in Wilmington, DE. Later they moved into a home, that for the most part, was built by John on Cantwell Avenue, also in Odessa. John later became a principal and is now retired.
      While her children were of pre-school age she spent time home raising them. She also worked at multiple jobs, spending the most time waitressing and as a dress sales person. Together they had two children.

Joyce Elizabeth Stout, (26)

      Joyce, (26) was born the 3rd child and 3rd daughter of Russell (10) and Edith Elizabeth (Shepherd) Stout on April 1, 1928 in Lambertville, NJ. She married Alfred James Buchanan, Jr. on May 1, 1948 at 74 Delavan Street in Lambertville, NJ. He is the son of Alfred James, Sr. and Carolyn (Hixson) Buchanan and was born on April 13, 1924 in Lambertville, NJ.
      Joyce (26) attended Lambertville 3rd Ward School on the corner of Perry and Main Street through the 8th grade (This building is now a Senior Citizen Center (1994)). She then attended Lambertville High School on the hill from where she graduated.
      Joyce (26) worked as a homemaker, raising her two children and then helped to raise her grandson Andrew (100) while his dad and mom worked. She and her husband "Jim" lived north of Lambertville. Her husband worked for the State of New Jersey and is now retired. Joyce (25) died on January 1, 1995 at her home at 7:30 a.m. after a battle with Lou Gerhig’s disease (ALS). She was interred in the Riverview Cemetery in Lambertville on January 4th. Together they had two children who were both born in Doylestown, Pa.

Beverly Catherine Stout, (28)

      Beverly "Buzzy", (28) was born the 5th child and 5th daughter of Russell (10) and Edith Elizabeth (Shepherd) Stout on October 10, 1931 in Trenton, NJ. She married Frank Voorhees on September 12, 1959 in the Cenetary Methodist Church in Lambertville, NJ. He is the son of Frank O. and Edna (Titus) Voorhees and was born on September 12, 1932 in Ringoes, NJ. They lived in Hopewell, NJ. Her husband worked as an insurance salesman. They were divorced in November, 1980. She works as a waitress in Hopewell, NJ and still resides there. They had no children. Frank has since remarried and had one child by a previous marriage which Buzzy help to raise, Mark Voorhees.

Marion Akers Barry, (29)

      Marion, (29) was born the 1st child and 1st dau of Edward Joseph and Edith (Stout) Barry. She married Leonidas "Lee" Stone Disturnell on April 22, 1944 in Pennington, NJ. "Lee" was born the son of Arthur William and Amelia Louise (Schnell) Disturnell. They currently reside in Langhorne, PA. and they have 4 children together whose names are currently unknown.

Elmer Charles Stout, (35)

      Elmer "Chow Boy", (35) was born the 1st child and 1st son of Elmer Pickett (12) and Reba M. (Johnson) Stout on December 28, 1930 in Lambertville. He was married to Katherine Jones whose parents and birth date are unknown. Elmer (35) served as a private in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict. After his marriage they resided in Pennington where Elmer (35) died on June 25, 1981 at the age of 50 and was interred in the Riverview Cem., Lambertville. Together they had three children.

Edgar Harry Stout, (37)

      Edgar "Bimmer", (37) was born the 3rd child and 3rd son of Elmer Pickett (12) and Reba M. (Johnson) Stout on March 25, 1934 in Lambertville. He was married to Patricia Back whose parents and birth date are unknown. After their marriage they resided in Lambertville. Edgar (37) worked for Schlotters Precision Products of New Hope as a drill press operator. Edgar (37) died on January 29, 1992 at the age of 57 in the Hunterdon Medical Center after becoming ill at his doctor's office with a headache. Patricia is living at their home on 64 Buttonwood Street in Lambertville. Together they had one children.

Walter William Voorhees, (39)

      Walter "Sonny", (39) was born the 1st child and 1st son of Walter Stephen and Dorothy Shaniger (Stout) Voorhees (13) on February 8, 1933. He has been married twice. Neither of his wives dates or maiden names are currently known. He 1st married Janet with who he had his only children. They were later divorced. He then married Helen with whom he still resides. Walter owns and operates a Body Shop. Together, he and Janet had two children.

Rena Faith Stout, (42)

      Rena, (42) was born the 1st child and 1st daughter of John Henry (17) and Irene Minnie (Hoagland) Stout on August 14, 1947 in Trenton. She married Dana Edward Wood on October 30, 1965 in Lambertville. He was born the son of Maxine Green on March 28, 1942 in Gasway, WV. His father’s name is currently unknown. They don't have any children.

      Myrtle, (43) was born the 2nd child and 2nd daughter of John Henry (17) and Irene Minnie (Hoagland) Stout on March 4, 1950 in Trenton. She married Dennis William Wersinger on August 22, 1970 in Lambertville. He was born the son of Joseph and Viola (_____) Wersinger on August 15, 1947 in Starbuck MN. Together they have one child who was born in Doylestown, Pa.

John Henry Stout, Jr., (44)

      John, (44) was born the 3rd child and only son of John Henry, Sr. (17) and Irene Minnie (Hoagland) Stout on July 12, 1951 in Lambertville. He has been married twice. First he married Donna Linico on December 24, 1970 in Elkton, Md. She was born the daughter of Harry Wyckoff and Alice (_____) Linico on December 18, 1951 in Somerville. They were divorced. Second he married Dawn Blew on June 27, 1990 in Lambertville. She was born the daughter of Fred and Carol (_____) Blew on September 19, 1967 in Scranton, Pa. John has three children, one with Donna and two with Dawn. He and Dawn reside in Lambertville.

Linda Marie Stout, (45)

      Linda, (45) was born the 4th child and 3rd daughter of John Henry, Sr. (17) and Irene Minnie (Hoagland) Stout on April 2, 1953 in Lambertville. She has been married twice. First to Michael Hansen in April, 1970 in Trenton. He was the adopted son of William and Hedwig (_____) Hanson and his birth date is unknown. They were divorced. Second she married Richard Allen Collins on November 6, 1973 in Lambertville. He was born on April 6, 1949 in Augusta, ME. His parents names are unknown. They were divorced. She has one child with Michael who was born in Doylestown, Pa.

      Melody, (46) was born the 5th child and 4th daughter of John Henry, Sr. (17) and Irene Minnie (Hoagland) Stout on May 1, 1954 in Lambertville.       Robin, (47) was born the 6th child and 5th daughter of John Henry, Sr. (17) and Irene Minnie (Hoagland) Stout on June 8, 1955 in Doylestown, Pa. She married Christopher Cwiek on June 24, 1989 in Lambertville. He is the adopted son of Melvin and Dorothy (_____) Cwiek and was born on April 2, 1961. They don't have any children.

Robert Patrick Stout, (48)

      Robert, (48) was born the 1st child and only son of Robert William (18) and Teresa Celine (Dooey) Stout on March 12, 1947 in Trenton. He married Carol Sue Butcher on October 30, 1976 in Stockton. She was born the daughter of Lacey Tas and Ruth Elizabeth (Farrell) Butcher on September 17, 1950 in Phillipsburg. They currently reside in Doylestown, Pa. and together they have three children.

John Ernest Pickett, III, (67)

      John, (67) was born the 1st child and 1st son of John Ernest, Jr. and Emma Virginia (Stout) (25) Pickett on February 29, 1948 in Lancaster. He has been married twice. John (67) first married Susan Walker Hall on August 30, 1970 in the Church of The Messiah in Gwynedd. Susan was born the dau of Herbert Douglas and Marjory (Buehler) Hall on October 27, 1949 in Philadelphia, PA. The marriage ended as the result of a divorce on September 27, 1979. They did not have any children together. John (67) then married Tammy Lee Rogers on May 21, 1983 in St. Paul's Methodist Church in Odessa, DE. Tammy was born on Dec 28, 1957 in Dover, DE. and is the dau of Richard Gordon and Bernice Elizabeth (Burris) Rogers. Tammy had two children previous to this marriage, Gary Lee and Christy Marie Ogden. John (67) and Tammy have two children together. They reside in Middletown, Delaware.

Russell Stout Pickett, (68)

     Russell "Russ", (68) was born the 2nd & last child & 2nd son of John Ernest, Jr. (79) & Emma Virginia (Stout) Pickett on October 29, 1951 in the Delaware Division Hospital in Wilmington, DE. (see the "Pickett" family history) He was named after his maternal grandfather Russell Stout (10). "Russ" (68) has been married twice. He first was married to Diane Sue Collison on November 6, 1971 in St. Luke's Methodist Church in Denton, MD. Diane was born on December 30, 1952 in Milford, DE. & is the dau of Albert Roland & Dorotha Lee (Stubbs) Collison of Greensboro, MD. (See the "Collison" & "Stubbs" family histories) Separation of this marriage took place with Diane leaving on July 13, 1991 & was ended by divorce on May 21, 1992. Diane & Russ (68) have two sons together, Christopher & Ryan.
     Russ (68) then met and had a relationship with Ruth Elizabeth Hardy in September, 1991. This relationship produced twin daughters, Kayla and Kara Pickett. "Ruthie" was born on August 27, 1970 in Kent General Hospital, Dover, DE. the dau of John Robert & Ruth Elizabeth (Dean) Hardy. "Ruthie" had one child by a previous marriage to Bradley McReynolds, Eric Adam McReynolds. Ruthie currently lives in rural Dover, De.
     In March, 1999 Russ (68) met and started a relationship with Karen Lorraine Hanshaw of Rochester, New York. This relationship continued with their engagement on July 16, 1999. On August 19, 2000 Karen and Russ (68) were married in the Hall of the Cheswold Volunteer Fire Company. Karen was born the daughter of Leo & Nancy (Bishop) Hodge on March 25, 1959 in Rochester, New York. Karen was previously married to Kevin Lynn Hanshaw and together they had two children, Kelli and Kyle.
     Russ (68) works for the State of Delaware as the State's Webmaster. He is also a life member of the Cheswold Volunteer Fire Company and is an officer in the Delaware Voluteer Firemen's Association. Russ (68) and Karen reside in rural Dover, DE. with five of their children, Chris, Kelli, Kyle, Kayla & Kara.

She married John William Zambella on September 18, 1971 in the Catholic Church in Lambertville. He is the son of Andrew John and Doris Elizabeth (Godown) Zambella and was born on February 4, 1949 in Doylestown, Pa. They have 1 child who was born in Doylestown, Pa.

      Chris, (96) was born the 1st child & 1st son of Russell Stout (68) & Diane Sue (Collison) Pickett on March 13, 1976 in the Kent General Hospital in Dover, DE. Chris (96) attended Fairview Elementary (1st - 3rd), Towne Point Elementary (4th), William Henry Middle School (5th - 6th), Central Middle School (7th - 8th) & graduated from Dover High School in 1994. He has attended classes at Delaware State University, and now works fulltime for a contracting firm that delivers for Air Borne Express in Dover, De. Chris (96) is a member of the U.S. Army Reserve and, along with his Dad (68), is a member of the Cheswold Volunteer Fire Company in Cheswold, DE.

Ryan Mark Pickett, (97)

      Ryan, (97) was born the 2nd child & 2nd son of Russell Stout (68) & Diane Sue (Collison) Pickett on February 3, 1979 in the Kent General Hospital in Dover, DE. Ryan (97) attended Towne Point Elementary (1st - 4th), William Henry Middle School (5th - 6th), Central Middle School (7th - 8th) and graduated from the Poly Technical High School in Woodside, DE. Ryan (97) is currently attending Lockhaven University in Lockhaven, Pa. to obtain a degree in the Communication field. Lockhaven has been rated as one of the best Liberal Art's College's in the nation by U.S. News & World Report this year.
