It is with a joyful heart and misty eyes that I would like
to announce that:
has passed the test for a service dog. It is particularly significant since she began her stay with me as a puppy with a myriad of health and temperament problems.
Two years ago,Sheba would quake at the sight of a child. If the doorbell rang, she would dash for the furthest corner of the bed even if it was someone who visited frequently. She had vaccinosis problems, shyness and severe fear problems.
She has worked with more than five trainers, including a world renown dog behaviorist from Sweden. Agility training has given her confidence that I never thought she could have. Love, encouragement and help with training from local PWD owners - Linda Otey and Joyce Taylor in particular - has really helped her more than anyone can say. Barb Claude has helped my hand, through the keyboard with overcoming health problems over the Internet and the PWD list(Thanks Scott).
Also, many thanks to Kathy Monroe who has helped me train Sheba more effectively by great suggestions for the local water trial and lots of follow-up which linked with the service dog training.
In addition. I really think that homeopathy has helped
diminish her fear behavior. I can't explain why and I have
shared the experience with many of you who also have had
fearful and dogs with erratic behavior problems.
Sheba also earned her Novice Jumpers With Weaves Title this
weekend at he Shoreline Kennel Club. She earned her Junior
Water Dog certificate last month. Yea, Sheba!
If Sheba can do it, any PWD can. If I, Marian Soloman, can do Agility and Water Work beginning at 50 and with a major disability, anybody can.
