"Somewhere In Time"

Haimish

Malthighland Tyke

20 Nov 1988 - 12 Jan 2006

Sire: Tarnrite Terras Tyke - Dame: Yarrageh Jarrah

Haimish "Up until this time I had only ever had German Shepherd Dogs and considered myself to be a "big dog" person. My friend had recently lost her beloved Toy Poodle and I found myself missing the company of a house dog. While reading the newspaper one Saturday I found an advertisement for West Highland White Terriers. I knew what they were like and always thought that if I was to have a small dog it would be a Westie. I have since found that most Westie owners suffer from the "I have always wanted to have one" syndrome. "

2004 Update

Haimish is now 16 yrs old and has outlived all of our other westies having recently lost his long time companion Becky.
Although he is a little lost without her he is still determined not to let young William (Airedale) into the house.
He is almost totally blind and deaf and his vet chart is marked "Old Dog who just soldiers on."

2006 Update

Sadly on 12 January 2006, aged 17 years, Haimish crossed the bridge.
Of little consolation to those he left behind is the fact that he lived a good long life and touched many many lives.
He has gone to join his beloved Becky and leaves behind a doting Mum, William and Maddy.

Ode to Haimish

So small and so tiny, the day we first met
You knew right away, for life you were set
So naughty and cheeky, when you were young
I took you in, and I made you my son

You were as your name said, Malthighland “Tyke”
Astute and picky, about whom you would like
Letting people know, in no uncertain terms
Which list they were on, and making them squirm

The first one of many, and the start of an era
But always you knew, you were the number one fella
All the boys did respect you, and paid you your due
The babies you cared for, the girls you did too

With each new addition, brought into the fold
Your stature became, a sight to behold
Never making the showring, and not really caring
Your strength lay in courage, commitment and loving

For 17 years, you were my companion and friend
I knew that one day, it would come to an end
I now am so sad, and my eyes fill with tears
I don’t know how to thank you, for those happy years

Memento’s are everywhere, all over the place
Everywhere that I look, I see your handsome face
My heart is so heavy, but your spirit is free
Forever and ever, my heart will keep you with me

So I just want to thank you, and once more say goodbye
For the love that you gave me, noone can deny
We will meet in the future, in a faraway place
And when that time comes, we again will embrace

Please say hello, to our kids gone before
And tell them we miss them, and still we adore
Take care of each other, and run and have fun
Rainbow bridge is your home now, my beloved son.
