Sunwapta means "turbulent waters" in Stoney Indian. Which is an apt description of the river that forms the falls. We stopped at a resort (pictured above) for lunch. Instead of eating there, we hiked off to the river and found a quiet spot in a bend in the river to eat. The scenery was fantastic: With the mountains all around, the river in front of us and the seclusion of the trees all worked as balm for the soul. Afterwards, we hiked down to the falls for the view. Well worth it too!
