In late December of 2000, Miracle passed to the Rainbow
Bridge. We will miss her so very much. She came to us in
winter and left us during a bitter ice storm. She was about
18 years old and we will miss her so much. Below is her story.
Hi! I'm "Miracle" and I'm supposed to tell how I came to be
at Black Rock Ranch. Trouble is, I was so very tiny when I
came here, I don't really remember. I am a "senior" kitty
now, and have been here ever since I was about 10 days old.
I was given the name Miracle, because everyone said it was a
miracle that I could have survived. I remember being so cold
I was just one big shiver! No one really knows how I got here,
but I had been in a big double garage for about three days when
a Meowmie found me. They thought I must have ridden in on the
car somehow, because the garage hadn't been opened for three days due to an ice storm.
Anyway, I did survive, and because there had been a cat with
FeuLeuk in the household, another whole house was built just
for cats! These are strange people! The house is about 10' by
26' and screened (all the way around and over the top) play
yard is 16' by 26'. It's warm in the winter and has A/C in
the summer, and nothing can get in our yard to hurt us. We have
two-story condos in the house and plenty of toys and windows where we can watch the horses, dogs, squirrels, birds and sometimes deer who wander through the property. I think the Meowmies feed them, too.
My very first spring, I happened to be outside one day, and
met a handsome guy named Tom Catt. Well, much to the dismay
of the Meowmies, I presented them with two more kittens to
care for, and although I thought Tom was very handsome, my kittens were a motley looking crew at birth. They are tortoise
shell, with patches of orange striped tabby on them. (That's thanks to me!) Also, I was born with a stub tail, and so was
one of my kittens. She was named Stubby Checker, and the other
had strange light patches around the eyes, and was named Possum Eyed Jo.
Collectively, we are referred to as "Miracle and the Pips".
They have grown into beautiful girls, even though they were a
little startling at birth. Anyway, everyone here at the ranch
is now neutered or spayed, with the exception of Missy, the mare. Sadly, my Stubby has gone on the Rainbow Bridge to wait for me, as has our beloved Hollis.
Our meowmies believed spaying and neutering would enrich our
lifespans and that must be true, given our ages. I am 16 and
my daughters are 14. Then there is Timogen, who is 17.
Last year, Timogen lost her mother, and this year, she lost
her sister, Princess and we added Hollis as a good addition to
the gang for a while. Maybe she won't be quite so lonely now.
I guess we need a Memorial Garden for all the great kitties who
came before us.
I know cats and dogs aren't supposed to get along very well,
but I have a friend, Tiffany, whom I really like, and I don't
care she is a dog! She always seems really glad to see me and gives
me a big ole slurpy kiss! She's huge, and I'm little, but she
gets down on her belly and crawls up to me so she won't scare
me. What a girl!
I love it here, and I know I am loved. And, my girls got to stay
with me instead of being lost to the streets, as happens in so
many families. All in all, I rate the place 4-stars!!!
