Recently, while cleaning out some papers to get ready to move, I found this poem that I wrote several years ago (before Yovel was born, when Shira and Yohai were smaller). I like to occasionally write cute rhyming poems like this one. Enjoy! |
MotherhoodAs we sit here and watch TV,Just Yohai, Shira and me, I try to relax and to unwind, In order not to lose my mind. Shira wants just one more song, And I know it won't be long Till Yohai turns off the VCR And Shira wants a candy bar. Then Yohai will start to cry, As "darling" Shira stands nearby, Waiting to hit him just once more, Or maybe to push him to the floor. Then, of course, the phone will ring, But I won't hear a single thing, Because there will be so much noise As the kids begin to throw their toys At each other and also at me... Oh, anyone could surely see How fun it is to be a mom And how easy to stay calm While being driven to the edge-- Oh how could anyone allege That motherhood is peaceful bliss, When in fact the truth is this: Parenting is oh so hard, But we cannot disregard The fact that life would be a bore If we didn't have the chore Of taking care of little ones, Both the daughters and the sons, Whose every word and every smile Make every bit of work worthwhile. |
