A Little Bit of A Hero |
||
I wanted to share something special with you about a very wonderful little pit bull terrier (who just happens to be an FOT adoptee) named Little Bit. I came home to find this wonderful message, (and I paraphrase freely), on my answering machine, left by Steve K., who along with wife Marilyn, adopted the petite `pit'. "I thought you might want to know that Little Bit saved our house from a fire. Something had gone amiss with the furnace during the night, and we would never have known, but Little Bit kept jumping on us and barking until we got up. She let us know something was wrong, and when we found out it was the furnace, realized there would have been a fire had she not awakened us." I guess it's true .... There are heroes everywhere! |

St. Petersburg, FL - Bill Eustis lost his loving six year old pit bull terrier, Sampson, on a Wednesday. A Vermont resident who worked around the country, Eustis always took his dog with him. While he stepped away for a moment, other crew members let Sampson out of Eustis' truck to wander about. Shortly thereafter, he disappeared. Frantic, Eustis tried everything he could think of to find the APBT, but it was an airplane with a banner announcing a $5,000 reward and his cel phone number that did it. A man who loved dogs had found Sampson and taken him home, but his wife kicked him out, saying it was the dog or her. So the man took Sampson and they slept overnight in his car. He took him to the beach, as well. On Friday, the man started to be chased by people who had seen the banner, so he quickly called Eustis, reuniting the two. The man refused the $5,000, but Eustis pressed him to at least accept $500. When the two met in the parking lot, Sampson was pleased to see Eustis, but it was apparent that he genuinely cared for the stranger that loved him for two days. Note: This clipping, along with photo (by Jennifer Corbett) was supplied without indication of the newspaper that featured the article about Sampson |
