Irwin William Laughead (IL2) was born 1/13/1882 in South Chester, Delaware Co., PA. He met his future wife, Elsie Dinsmore Tinney, in church. They were married in 6/1/1910 in Philadelphia, PA. Elsie was born 6/23/1883 in Philadelphia. At that time, Irwin was working on his parents' farm in Bryn Maur, PA. They purchased the Oyster Saloon in Philadelphia. Elsie worked as a milliner at John Wanamakers' in Philadelphia. The Laugheads eventually sold the saloon and moved to Camden, NJ where Irwin went to work for the local phone company. During the war, they moved to Alameda, CA where Irwin got a job at the shipyard and Elsie worked as a milliner making beautiful hats for the ladies of San Francisco. When the shipyard closed Irwin went back working for the phone company. He stayed with the phone company until he retired in around 1950. They eventually moved in with their daughter and her family. Irwin died in 8/14/1961 in San Jose. Elsie died in 6/22/1977 in Hayward, CA.
