He married VINCENZA MARINO in New York, daughter of LUIGI MARINO and MARIA COLLORAFI. She was born 1882 in Patti, Sicilia.

Notes for GIUSEPPE (JOE) COLLORAFI:
The information on Giuseppe comes to us from the social security death listing (SS #063-01-9837) and also from his nephew, Pietro S. Collorafi of New York. Giuseppe gives a different birth date than that on his birth record in Patti. He states that he was born July 11, 1886. He lists his father as Peter and his mother as Marie Denatale. His address in 1936 is given as 436 West 47th St., NY, NY. His employment is at Vincent's Barber Shop, 300 7th Ave., NY. He gives his name as Joseph, not Giuseppe. in Oreste's social security application, he gives us the names of his parents.

We also have some information about Giuseppe's trip to New York from the Ellis Island records. He is listed on the manifest for the ship, Manilla, which departed from Naples, Campania, Italy. If arrives in New York on April 6, 1900 when Giuseppe is 14 years old. He may be traveling with Gaetano Foti, age 26, also from Patti. Giuseppe may have stayed with his Aunt Caterine, sister of his father, Pietro, who came to New York the year before with Vincenza Marino - who may be her daughter or her niece, who eventually becomes Giuseppe's wife in New York.

Notes for VINCENZA MARINO:
Vincenza Marino comes from Patti with Caterine Collorafi, sister of Pietro, on the ship, The Archimede, and arrives in New York on October 9, 1899. Marino is the last name of Catherine's husband. Vincenza is then 17 years old. Giuseppe, her husband, is the son of Caterine's brother, Pietro.

He married SERAFINA RAPISARDI, daughter of SALVATORE RAPISARDI and NANGY DI ANGELO. She was born March 14, 1897 in Cantania, Italy, and died December 1977 in NYC, New York.

Notes for SERAFINA RAPISARDI:
The information on Serafina (Fina) comes from her son, Pietro S. Collorafi and also social security records, #116-03-4705. When Fina applies for social security on May 20, 1937, she gives us her parents' names. At that time she was living at 1699 Lexington Ave., NY, NY and employed at Max Littwitz, Inc. on 7 East 47th St. She states that she was born on March 3, 1900 in Italy, which is a different birth date than that obtained by family members. Serafina's grandson told me that "Fina" was on a visit to New York, when she got a message from her family that Mr. Etna, above her hometown of Catania, was in the process of eruption, and not to come home for awhile. This turned out to be an advantage because, while in New York, she met and married the handsome Charles (Calagoro) Collorafi from Patti, Sicilia.

He married MARIA CASELLA in San Piero Patti, Sicilia, daughter of JOSEPH CASELLA and ROSA LOPRESTI. She was born July 29, 1921 in West New York, New Jersey, and died October 1971 in New York.

Notes for ANGELO COLLORAFI:
Angelo is remembered by his children and grandchildren as loving children, being a good gardener and a great story teller. He told stories about WW II, as well as other stories. His grand daughter, Jennifer loved his stories told in broken English. One that she recalled is when he was captured in North Africa during WW II. I labled it "The Golden Tooth". Angelo said that the night was very, very dark as he was rowed in a boat in a river in Africa as a captured Italian soldier. It was so dark that no one could see anyone else in the boat, except for Angelo, he could see the front gold tooth shine of one of the men who was now his captor. His daughter Jackie remembered his story of the "Werewolf of San Piero Patti" which he told to a hushed group of grandchildren.

Angelo was a very good gardener, and his daughter said that he would notice if even one tomato had been picked.

Notes for MARIA CASELLA:
Maria Casella was born in West New York, New Jersey, acording to her grandson, Giuseppe (Joseph) Collorafi. Her family moved back to Sicily when she was a little girl. She came back to the United States in 1953 and brought her husband, Angelo, and children, Mario, Tindaro, Giuseppe and Rose over in April of 1955. They settled in West Haverstraw, New York. Maria Gioconda was born in Suffex New York in 1959. Information about her parents and birth date are found on her application for a social security number on December 12, 1953. Her address at that time was Box 374, West Haverstraw, NY.
