*1.James Adair, Indian Trader b. 1709 in Antrim, Ireland m. Unknown Cherokee Woman, Clan unknown. This information is theory only. There are not actual records that prove that James was the father of John and Edward. But, there is a great deal of circumstantial evedence on which to rely.
James' children were:
*2a. John Adair, 1/2 Cherokee, b. ca. 1753 m1*. GaHoGa Foster nee Lightfoot, d/o Lightfoot, full blood Cherokee; and m2. Jennie Kilgore, supposedly white. He had a total of fifteen children.
*2b. Edward Adair, 1/2 Cherokee, b. ca. 1755 m1*. Elizabeth Scott, 1/2 Cherokee.
2c. James Adair 1/2 Cherokee or Choctaw, b. ca. 1757 NFR. James may and may not have existed. There are indications both ways.
2a.The children of John Adair and GaHoGa Lightfoot (all 3/4 Cherokee) were:
3a. Samuel Adair, Sr., b. 1781 in Adairsville, Bartow, GA., d. 17 Feb 1879 in the Cherokee Nation West, Indian Territory, m1. Margaret Deeson, white, and m2. Edith Pounds, believed to be white.
*3b. Walter (Black Watt) Adair b. 11 Dec 1783 Adairsville, Bartow, GA., d. Saline District, Cherokee Nation West, Indian Territory; m. Rachel Thompson, race unknown (thought to be white to 1/2 Cherokee), 15 May 1835 in Ga.
3c. Charlotte Adair b. 1785 Adairsville, Bartow, GA., d. 1839, Stilwell, Flint District, Cherokee Nation West, Indian Territory; m. John Bell, Jr. 1/2 Cherokee.
3d. Edward Adair b. 7 Feb 1789 Adairsville, Bartow, GA., d. 21 Dec 1864, Cherokee Nation West, Indian Territory; m. Martha Ritchie, race unknown, 17 Jun 1809 in GA.

7d. William Commodore Adair b. 17 Oct 1905, Adair, Cooweescoowee District, Cherokee Nation West, Indian Territory; married twice. Had one son who is still living.

The child of 7c in the John Adair line, Mary Ellen Adair and Samuel Earl Riddle was my mother, who married my father. They are both still living so their names will not be included here. They have five children, two boys and three girls all still living, and five grandchildren all girls.
