The Harland/Harlan Family in America begins with the migration of George Harland from England to Pennsylvania sometime between 1694 and 1696 where he died at Brandywine Creek, Kennett Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania. He married Elizabeth Duck in a Ceremony of Friends, Shankill, Armagh, Ireland, 17 Sep 1678. Information on this family can be found in the Quaker Records available at your local Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints, Family History Center.
*1. William Harland birth, death and marriage dates unknown, married Deborah in England. The were probably born ca. 1600 or earlier. They had one known son, from whom I descend.
*2. James Harland was born in England in 1625, near Durham, and died in England on an unknown date. The name of his wife is not know. He had two known children.
*3.A. George Harland, christened 11 Mar 1649/1650 at Durham England. He died 5 Jul 1714 at Brandywine Creek, Kennett Township, Chester, Pennsylvania. He married Elizabeth Duck 17 Sep 1678 in Ireland. For more information see above. George and Elizabeth Duck Harland had eight children.
3.B.. Hannah Harlan b. 4 Feb 1651 Shankill, Armagh, Ireland. M. Samuel Hollingsworth 8 Jun 1701 in Shankill.

*5.A. Ezekiel Harlan b. 16 Jun 1679 Donnahlong, Down, Ulster, Ireland, d. 16 Jun 1731 and is buried at Kennett, Chester, Pennsylvania. He married Mary Bezer at Kennett, Chester, Pa., in 1705/1706. After her death he married my ancestor Ruth Buffington on 19 Jul 1706 at Kennett
5.B. Moses Harlan b. 20 Dec 1683 Donnahlong, Down, Ulster, Ireland, d. 29 May 1749 Menallan Township, Adams County, PA., M. Margaret Ray in 1712 at the Newark Meeting House, New Castle County, DE.
5.C. Aaron Harlan b. 24 Oct 1685 Donnahlong, Down Ulster, Ireland, d. Nov (nineth month Quaker calander) 1732 at Kennett, Chester, Pa. He married Sarah Heald 2 Nov 1713 at the Newark Meeting House, New Castle County, DE.
5.D. Rebecca Harlan was b. 17 Aug 1688 at Donnahlong, Down, Ulster, Ireland, and d. on her birthday, 17 Aug 1775 Kennett Township, Chester, PA., and she m. William Webb, 11 Mar 1710 at the Kennett Meeting House, Chester County, PA.
5.E. Deborah Harlan was b. 28 Oct 1690 Donnahlong, Down, Ulster, Ireland., She died 28 May 1712. She married Joshua Calvert in 1709.
5.F. James Harlan b. 19 Aug 1692 at Donnahlong, Down, Ulster, Ireland, and d. in 1762 at Frederick County Virginia. He married Elizabeth Robinson in 1715 at Kennett Meeting House, Chester County, Pennsylvania.
5.G. Elizabeth Harlan b. 9 Aug 1694 at Donnahlong, Down, Ulster, Ireland and d. 12 Nov 1712 and is buried at the Friends Burying Ground, Kennett, Chester, PA., She m. Joseph Robinson at the Kennett Meeting House, Chester, Pa.
5.H. Joshua Harlan was christened at the Kennett Meeting House, Chester County, Pa., and he d. 5 Jun 1744 and is buried at the Friends Burying Ground, Kennett, Chester, Pa. He married Mary Heald on the 17 Mar 1719 at the "Old" Kennett Meeting House, Chester, PA.
*Ezekiel Harlan and his second wife Ruth Buffington had six children. They follow.
*6.A. Ezekiel Harlan b. 19 May 1707 at Kennett Township, Chester, PA., d. 1754 at W. Marlboro, Chester, PA., and he m. Hannah Osborn on the 23 Dec (tenth month in Quaker Calander) 1724, Pennsylvania.
6.B. Mary Harlan b. 12 Apr 1709 Kennett, Chester PA., d. 7 Apr 1750 Kennett. M. Daniel Webb on the 28 Nov 1727 at Kennett he died and she married Thomas Buffington.
6.C. Elizabeth Harlan b. 19 May 1713 at Kennett, Chester, PA., d. aft Aug 1770 at Kennett and is buried at the Friends Burial Ground in Kennett. She m. William White at Philadelphia, Philadelphia, PA., 8 Jun 1728.
6.D. Joseph Harlan b. 14 Jun 1721 at Kennett., d. at Wilmington, New Castle, DE., date unknown. He married Hannah Roberts 21 Mar 1740 at the "Old" Kennett Meeting House, Chester, PA.,
6.E. Ruth Harlan b. 11 Jan 1723 at Kennett, and also died there and is buried at the Old Kennett Cemetery. She m. Daniel Leonard at the "Old" Kennett Meeting House, Chester, Pa., on 21 Mar 1740.
6.F. Benjamin Harlan was b. 7 Aug 1729 at Kennett and died at sea, in the Atlantic Ocean, and was buried there, in Aug 1752.

7.A. Mary Harlan b. 1725 at Kennett Township, Chester, Pennsylvania. I have no further information on Mary.
7.B. Susanna Harlan was b. 26 Feb 1728 Marlborough, Chester, PA., and d. 30 Apr 1793 in Chester County. She m. George Harlan, her cousin, on the 14 Nov 1750 in Chester County.
7.C. Hannah Harlan b. 17 May 1730 at W. Marlborough, Chester, PA., d. 29 Jan 1817 at Kennett, Chester, PA., and m. Isaac Hayes on 15 Dec 1750 at London Grove Township, Chester, PA. Isaac died and she m. John Buller on the 22 Apr 1760 at New Castle, Delaware.
*7.D. Ellis Harlan b. 1731 at W. Marlborough, Chester, Pa., d. in the Cherokee Nation East, McMinn County, Tennessee., m. Catherine Kingfisher a full blood Cherokee.
7.E. Ezekial Harlan b. 1733 Kennett Township, Chester, Pennsylvania. NFR.
7.F. Jonathan Harlan b. 1735 at Kennett Township, Chester, PA., m. Bathsheba Young.
7.G. Ruth Harlan b. 10 Mar 1737 Kennett Township, Chester, PA., m. Jesse Marsh Feb 1760.
7.H. Elizabeth Harlan b. 1740 Kennett Township, Chester, PA., m. Jonathan Hayes 2 Mar 1760.
