*1. John Rogers, Sr., b. ca. 1742, NFR, m. 1., Elizabeth Emory (Mrs. Robert Due), 1/4 Cherokee. John and Elizabeth were the parents of five children, who were 1/8 Cherokee.

2a. Charles Rogers, b. ca. 1772 in the Cherokee Nation Tennessee, and m. Nannie Downing.

2b. Aky Rogers b. ca. 1774 in the Cherokee Nation, Tennessee, and m. 1. George Hicks, m. 2. Daniel Vickery.

*2c. Chief John "Hellfire Jack" Rogers, Jr., b. 1776 in the Cherokee Nation, Tennessee., and m. Elizabeth Coody.

2d. James Rogers, b. ca. 1778, in the Cherokee Nation, Tennessee, and m. Nannie Coody.

2e. Nannie Rogers, b. ca. 1780 in the Cherokee Nation East and m. 1. Looney Price, m. 2. Nelson B. Grubbs.

John Rogers, Sr., m. as his second wife, Jennie Due, who was 1/8 Cherokee. She was the daughter of his first wife Elizabeth. They were the parents of five chiildren.

2f. Annie Rogers, b. ca. 1783, in the Cherokee Nation Tennessee and m. 1., John W. Flawey, m. 2. Thomas Irons.

2g. Joseph Rogers, b. ca. 1785, died as a child.

2h. William Rogers, b. ca. 1787 in the Cherokee Nation Tennessee, m. Nellie May.

2i. Tiana Rogers, (not Diana), b. ca. 1790 in the Cherokee Nation, Tennessee, m. 1. David Gentry, m. 2. Samuel Houston, liberator of Texas. She is buried in the National Cemetery at Fort Gibson, Oklahoma.

2j. Susannah Rogers, b. ca. 1792, in the Cherokee Nation, Tennessee, m. Nicholas Miller.

*2c. Chief John Rogers, Jr., was 1/8 Cherokee, and born in 1776 in the Cherokee Nation, Tennessee. He and his wife Elizabeth came west with what is known as the Early Settlers, to Dardanelle, Yell, Arkansas in 1816. He was the last Chief of the Old Settler or Western Cherokees. He died 12 Jun 1846 in Washington, D. C. and is buried at the National Cemetery at Arlington, VA. He married Elizabeth Coody who was full blood Cherokee, It is doubtful that Coody is her actual surname, and is suggestive of her having been married before. Neither of these theories has been proven. Elizabeth and John had eight children who were 9/16 Cherokee.

3b. Thomas Lewis Rogers, b. ca. 1806, in the Cherokee Nation, Ga. NFR.

3c. George Washington Rogers, b. ca. 1808, in the Cherokee Nation, Ga., and m. 1. Malinda Schrimsher, m. 2. Martha England.

3d. Charles Coody Rogers, b. ca. 1810, in the Cherokee Nation, Ga. d, 30 Jul 1851, and m. 1. Elizabeth McCorkle, m. 2. Nannie Patton (Mrs., Coker), m. 3. Jennie Harlan.

*3e. W. D. Nelson Rogers, b. ca. 1812, in the Cherokee Nation, Ga., m. *1. Rosannah West, m. 2. Margaret Schrimsher.

3f. Granville Rogers b. ca. 1815, Cherokee Nation, Ga., died as a child.

3g. Randolph Rogers b. ca. 1818, probably Arkansas, died as a child.

3h. Isaac Rogers, b. ca. 1820 in the Cherokee Nation West, Arkansas, m. Takey Cooley.

*3e. W. D. Nelson Rogers who was 9/16 Cherokee was b. ca. 1812 in the Cherokee Nation, Ga., and married Rosannah West who was 1/4 Cherokee. They moved to the Cherokee Nation West as part of the Old Settlers. No record of his burial place or that of Rosannah have been found to date. He married second to Margaret Schrimsher. There is no record of any children from this marriage. Nelson and Rose had three children who were 13/32.

4a. Lewis Rogers, b. ca. 1851 in the Cooweescoowee District, Cherokee Nation, Indian Territory, m. 1. Josephine Landrum, m. 2. Helen Ross, m. 3. Unknown.

4b. Sarah Rogers (twin), b. ca. 1853 in the Cooweescoowee District, Cherokee Nation, Indian Territory, m. 1, David Vaught, m. 2, William Wilkerson, m. 3. Alfred Campbell, m. 4. J. J. Griggs.

*4c. Eliza Rogers (twin) b. can 1853 in the Cooweescoowee District, Cherokee Nation, Indian Territory, consort to LeVaga (Virgil) Rogers, m. 1. Alexander McDaniel.

*4c. Eliza Rogers was the twin sister of Sarah Rogers, she was 1/2 Cherokee. She had a child out of wedlock, by LeVaga (Virgil) Rogers who was at least 1/2 Cherokee, who was possibly her cousin. This has not been proven, as Virgils mother's ancestry is still being researched and has not been proven. Eliza and Virgil were the parents of one child who was at least 1/2 Cherokee.

*1. Margaret "Maggie" Rogers b. 25 May 1875 in the Cooweescoowee District, Cherokee Nation, Indian Territory, and m. William Penn "Augona" Adair, III, on 12 Apr 1891, in the Saline District, Cherokee Nation, Indian Territory. Maggie d.16 Jun 1944 in Pryor, Mayes, OK., and is buried in the Old Edward Adair Cemetery in Adair, Mayes, Oklahoma. Will d. in 1930, at Adair, Mayes, Ok., and is buried next to Maggie at the Old Edward Adair Cemetery in Adair, Mayes, Ok., Maggie and Will had four children who were at least 1/2 Cherokee. The family group for this family is located under the Adair Family.
