William Thomas (W. T.) Foster was born August 3, 1858 in Smithville, Tennessee. He was the eighth child of William Golden Foster and Manerva Spurlock. Their children were John Byrd, Erastus Duncan, Stephen Moore, Josiah Spurlock,
Sarah E., Franklin Pierce, James Drake (died at the age of two), and William Thomas. William's mother, Manerva, died on June 15, 1860. William was only two years old. William Golden then married Judy Ann Boatwright on October 3, 1861.
The 1870 Census of Dekalb County shows William G. and Judy Ann living in Smithville with his children Josiah, Sarah, Franklin, Thomas and John Byrd with his wife Sarah and their son Stephen. Some time in 1876 William Golden moved his family to Mis
sissippi.
William Thomas married Isabella Elnora Isaacs from Plantersville, Mississippi on February 17,1878. They had eight children: John Golden, O'Fallon, Sallie Roana, Thomas Pressley, Evant Gladstone, Kate Myrtle, Caro Bell, and an infant child that di
ed the same day of birth. William Thomas lived in Mississippi for many years then moved to Georgia living there several years. After retiring he and Isabella moved to Murfreesboro, Tennessee across the street from their daughter O'Fallon, that had married Oscar Staley who was from Smithville. On March 7, 1936 Isabella died. On March 29, 1944 William Thomas died. They are both buried at the Evergreen Cemetery at Murfreesboro. |
