CREATIVITY
NOTEBOOK

YOU might be surprised by the many ways and various fields in which you are creative.

In this notebook you will find that creativity has no boundaries.

You may discover how to explore and enhance your creativity.

You can learn Creative techniques.

A CREATIVITY RESOURCE PAGE will provide many informational links to internet Creativity sites.

The suggestions herein are based on my learning, practicing, teaching, cooking, raising five wonderful children, crafting with five beautiful grandchildren, sharing artsy craftsy materials and supplies with two adorable great grandchildren, and my painting
experiences over the past seven and a half decades.

What do some of the experts say about CREATIVITY?

Let's look at the Oxford American Dictionary,1980,
for its definition of this
special word:
CREATIVE
l. Having the power or the ability
to create things.
2. showing imagination and originality
as well as routine skill.
UNIQUE
"...being the only one of its kind..."

Julia Cameron in her book The Artist's Way
A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity, p.2,
gives this description:
"CREATIVITY is an experience - to my eye, a
spiritual experience."

Steps to Getting Into a Creative Mode:

CHECK YOUR CREATIVE LEVEL:

  1. Can you doodle?
  2. Can you hum, whistle, or sing?
  3. Can you ----?

Whatever you can do, YOU do with originality.
YOU are unique.
YOUR way of doing everything is unique.

All of us are different in some way from each other and we do most everything differently in some way.

Note that different does not mean better nor does it mean worse.

A Virtuality University classmate, Nett, sent me this message which aptly expresses my feeling about differences.

"THERE ARE DIFFERENCES IN BEAUTY
AND BEAUTY IN OUR DIFFERENCES."

Creativity is not limited to doodling, writing, humming, whistling or singing nor is it limited to fine art, music, folk art, crafts, or writing novels and poetry.

In my opinion, creativity has no boundaries and is expressed by all of us in endless ways, including sewing, cooking, 6 gardening, computer programming, just to mention a few.

One method you might use to evaluate your creativity level is to ask yourself this question: "What gives me pleasure and how do I creatively apply it or how can I more creatively apply these interests to my life style?" You could then make a check list of your inventory.

Here is an example of how YOU might arrange your list of what YOU enjoy doing and how YOU creatively apply (or wish to apply) these pleasures to YOUR activities or projects.

MY CREATIVE INTERESTS

DOODLING Draw, Make Patterns, Design WebPages
WRITING Calligraphy, Poetry, Family History
LEARNING Read, Practice, VU CLASSES
COLOR Paint, Decorate, Plant Flowers
THINKING Ideas, Ideas, YOU get the idea
PEOPLE Family, Friends, Volunteering, Respecting and Nourishing Personal and Public Relationships

After YOUR LIST is made, arrange it in the order of your preferences.

You can check your creative level by being aware of your creative gifts.

Accept your uniqueness, give yourself permission to be creative and enjoy your oneness.

DEVELOP CREATIVE THINKING

P(p) + P(p) = P(p)

No, No, That is not an Algebraic formula. It's not a
simple Math problem either.
It is a good way to remember this formula Process of (p)racticing plus the
Process of (p)ersistence = the
Process of (p)rogress

The pleasure that is derived from the PROCESS of whatever we do should be as great, if not greater, than the finished product.

Otherwise, creativity will not be enjoyable and it will be difficult to persistently practice.

When you reach a frustrating part of the process, Tell yourself: "I haven't learned to do this yet but I know that I CAN with practice and persistence."

A positive attitude takes less energy than a negative "I can't" attitude and produces better results.
Determine YOUR priorities and set goals for yourself.

SEARCH FOR CREATIVITY RESOURCES ON THE INTERNET AND BECOME AS CREATIVE AS YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE.

FLOWERS IN WATERING CAN

GARDENING CAN BE A CREATIVE PROJECT
I enjoy growing cut flowers, not only to have a colorful yard, but to share my floral arrangements with family, friends, and neighbors.
