Bundesleistungshueten Richterbericht Judges for the 1997 Bundesleistungshueten in Huelzweiler were Rolf Fauser, Chief Judge, and Hans Chifflard and Dieter Petzold, Judges.
Their report and critiques for the HGH Sieger and Vice-Sieger are as follows:
HGH Sieger, 1997, with 99 of 100 points and the mark "Excellent" was Willi Etzel.
Main Dog: Ista von der Holzheimer Linde, HGH, SZ 1891698 WT 11.01.1994, V: Borris vom Eichbaum, M: Dunja von der Helgenhoehe, Breeder/Owner, Horst Schuder.
Side Dog: Lucy von der Holzheimer Linde, SZ 1833177, WT 18.12.1992.
This very diligent, very self-reliant and totally obedient bitch was exhibited with the best herding techniques by her experienced and observant handler, so that throughout her trial run, they presented a complete picture of almost every element of herding performance.
At the exit from the pen, Ista made a very pretty jump over the side, was placed perfectly at the pen gate, stood there quiet and alert, until the last sheep had left the pen and she had been called out by her handler.
In the traffic road, she was very secure, made a lot of space for the auto, moved along with the auto from the front to the rear of the flock..
At the wide graze, she took up the border immediately, held the border very securely and moved about diligently and alertly with the herd. The placement at the head of the flock (heading and turning the flock) was picture perfect.
At the narrow graze, she again took up the border immediately.
In the narrow path, she worked both sides of the flock, moving alertly from the front sheep to the rear sheep, discipling the sheep that tried to steal nibbles along the way.
At the bridge, she was promptly and correctly placed. She stood very alert until the last sheep went over the bridge, then crossed the bridge herself without command.
She showed a very correct neck grip.
At the re-pen, she was very well placed, stood very secure and alert, nevertheless, at the end, she sat down, thereby losing one point.
Ista, who showed herself to be very diligent, alert, and obedient, also showed a pronounced protective drive.
Herr Etzel received the highest mark "Very Good" for his herding techniques, stock handling and his dog handling. Vice-sieger, with 98 points and the mark "Excellent," was Manfred Voigt.
