I made this duvet cover for an old comforter. I will use it at the cabin in the new bedroom my son has build for me. The piecing went very quickly, it only took me a week to complete. Dec 2001 |
How many quilter out there have lots of quilt square they have tried and put aside for one reason or another. Well I combined some of mine with fabric from my scrap bin and look at the result. A little bit of everything. Made April 2001. I have this new love of polar fleece so naturally used it for the backing instead of the traditional batting and backing. |
The quillow instructions are at a few places on the web Quillow Directions
My most recent completed quilt is my triple star. I used about 50 different fabrics, all with shades of blue, stars and the millennium in mind. The backing is blue polar fleece with a solar theme.
I made this coffee table runner using the technique demonstrated on Simply Quilts--Hexagon Patti's. I cut a 2" hexagons from plastic lids of food
containers, punched a small hole in the middle. Placed the hexagon on the fabric
with a pin through the hole in the middle to secure, then basted around the plastic.
Hand sewed seven together to form the "Grandmother's Flower Garden". These
plastic haxagons can be cut in any size depending on the finished flower you desire.
This pillow cover was made using the technique described on HGTV's "Simply Quilts" episode QLT-565. Sharon Rexroad Ericson was the shows guest quilter and the demonstration was from her book "Doily Magic". A scanned close up picture can be seen on my sewing page. The Heart pillow instructions can be found at the HGTV web site. HGTV |
Another quilting technique I have is a square yo-yo quilt for my granddaughter. I made the square yo-yo from the book "Easy Does it Quilts" by Georgia Bonsteel that I checked out from my local library. It is made in much the same way as a puff quilt but the puff is easier to put together. I no longer have the pattern but remember it was an odd shape pattern and not nearly as easy as the round yo-yo. Try these sites for the round yo-yo---- Yo-Yo Yo-Yo |
This quilt is the only one I ever hand quilted. I made curtains and dresser scarfs to match. The colors are peach, mint green and off white. This is me holding the quilt that I later presented to my mother. |
Tumbling Blocks is a favorite of mine. This one was tied instead of quilted. |
