My Tulane Webjournal

Wow--I can't believe I haven't written for that many months. This is ridiculous. Talk about busy! Oy. But, now I am DONE forever with exams!!!!!!!!!!!! No more homework, no more books, no more teachers' dirty looks! Yeah! Thesis is done and turned in as well. Now, let's just hope that the grades come back favorably.

Wedding plans are going quite well, all is ready for launch! Just those last minute things that brides (and often their mothers) like to worry about. Grooms, not so much. But seriously, all is going quite well. If you visit the wedding webpage, make sure you sign the online guestbook.

Let's see. Not too much else going on here. Now that finals are done with, I plan to do a great deal of reading and catching up on sleep. Also--trying to do all of the things in New Orleans I haven't done for the past four years. I am going to start tomorrow by gong to the D-Day Museum. A true national treasure that I have yet to visit. I'm very excited about that. Maybe I'll also have time to write more here. Oh, and I have to make the program for the wedding--my one big task. But, I got myself into that one. So, no complaints.

Well, I'm going to start on that sleeping thing now. Goodnight! Thanks for reading.

Hello there! Hope you are all doing well. What a couple of weeks it has been. Wedding planning has been going well. We have a date, church, reception hall, and priest! All good things. Now, the nitty gritty fun stuff begins--like picking out the food and the entertainment! Feel free to send any contributions! ;) Keep checking back for updates--they'll probably be on Emily's page in the days to come.

Other than the wedding planning, not too much going on. I had my first meeting with my thesis director today. It should be an interesting journey finishing that in the next two semesters. But, I am looking forward to the challenge.

The Gubernatorial election in Louisiana is this coming weekend. It has been an incredibly exciting ride these past few weeks. The election is getting hot and fierce, and politically FUN!! I like Bobby Jindal for Governor. He's incredibly sharp and I think he will do wonderful things for the State of Louisiana if he is elected.

The other good news from this week is that I have postponed my taking of the LSAT until February. I am thrilled about this! It means that I don't have to stress about it right now, and I have several months now to prepare. I have decided, I think, that I will not attend law school immediately after graduation. I am going to pursue a job full-strength, then see what happens after that. I am still keeping Law School an option for the future, however, and I am excited about my prospects. So...if you know any Republicans who are hiring in D.C., do let me know! :)

I guess that's about it for now! Have a great week!

Hello, everyone. Thanks again for checking out my webpage! I am really going to try and keep up this year--at LEAST once a week. But, I have a feeling it might even be more often than that. After all, I will need to keep you, my loyal readers, informed about the progress of the wedding plans. Yes, you read that right. I, Daniel, and engaged to be married!!! Scary, huh? ;) For more info, see Emily's Page on this site. But, yes, we are engaged and the planning has begun. It is indeed great fun, but of course a little scary as well. But, I know that it is the right thing to do, and I am thrilled about the rest of my life!

This weekend was a flurry of emotions and activity. (We also squeezed in an AWESOME Tulane football game on Saturday--Roll Wave!) Phone calls, emails and IMs flowed in from friends and family, with well wishes and congratulations. And, for those, I am thankful and deeply touched. I do indeed have the best friends and family in the whole world, and I couldn't be happier.
The engagement and the excitement surrounding that has been, as you can imagine, taking up most of my time and energy the past few weeks--what with planning, execution and post-acceptance excitement. But, other things are happening, as well. Classes are going well, though I just am getting over being kinda sick, so I'll have to play catch up these next couple of weeks. But, I have kept up with most of the work, so that's good! HRL work is progressing nicely. With only a few bumps in the road, the ARD-ness is busy but good. College Republicans is going wonderfully this year. Though, if you wish to donate money, please let me know! Cash is going to be hard to come by in Louisiana this year, what with the big governor's race and all! So, please, feel free to send it this way. In fact, you can make one check out to the College Republicans, and the other out to my personal fund. :) We did, however, have 55 people pay dues the first two meetings, which I think is phenomenal! I am so pleased! We are going to do great things this year, I can feel it!

Well, that's about it for now. Em's coming over in a little bit and I'm cooking dinner, so I'd better get started! And, that pesky homework stuff. Bah. Hope you are doing well! Thanks again for coming--sign the guestbook and drop me a line when you get a chance!

Wednesday 10 September 2003

Greetings again, friends. I apologize for taking a long time between posts. It was an interesting and wonderful summer; however, it was also a summer largely without constant access to the internet. I worked for a Political Action Committee in D.C. called GOPAC. It was an experience during which I learned a great deal about the nature of politics and of the vast political world that exists in the confines of "The District." A truly educational summer, and one that has helped to reshape my future, more than likely.

So...what's new? Well, I have now begun my SENIOR year of college. Yikes...I sound old. I might have to do that real world thing before long. However, my next piece of news delays that at least slightly. I have decided to take the LSAT in October (say your prayers...I'm going to need them). So, I am definitely interested in Law School, and if I do well enough on the LSAT that may very well be a viable option. However, I think my first preference is still to try and get a big J-O-B. So, we'll definitely be praying over that for the next few months. Yeah. Ok, so I'm also working for the big HRL (housing) again this year. But, I have a promotion--I'm now the (clears throat) Assistant Resident Director for Community Development. Sounds important, doesn't it? Yeah, basically I get to be the king of paperwork. Great... "So, yeah, I'm gonna need you to come in on Saturday...That'd be great."

For me, life is going absolutely wonderfully. A little stressful, but overall very good. I do ask your prayers for my parents, though. They are going through quite a rough time at the moment. They are two wonderful people, and they need all your prayers right now. I would greatly appreciate it.

I hope you are doing well--if you are reading this right now, you must be dedicated! Perhaps once I get in the habit of updating this regularly, I'll send out an email to everyone announcing that it has been updated. Maybe it needs a style change. Hmm. I dunno. I kinda like it.

Well--off to class for me. "Great Ideas in Science." Yes, it's offered as a lab science, and I'm taking it. Remind me to tell you about "clickers" sometime. Have a great day!
