Cathy's Favourite Music
Music plays a great part in my life. If there's a day that I could live without music, that would be the day when I'm dead. So from here you can understand how important music is to me. Generally, I listen to a wide range of music from Pop, R&B, Latin, Dance, to Piano, Oldies, Jazz and New Age.
Below you'll find some of my favourite artists that add in some spice in my mundane life.
1. Michael and Victor Wong I know the local duo splitted a few years back, but it didn't cease me from supporting and listening to their songs. It certainly fills the air with some nostalgic memories everytime "The Palm" is played, as this song came out when I was just in Standard 6. They still produce great music even they've gone separated ways.
2. David Tao This man is far more than an ordinary artist. He writes and produces his songs on his own. Not to mention his noble vision of creating a more loving and peaceful society by uniting the world with nothing else, but his music. The originality of his songs as well as the intangible sincerity of David had touched my soul and left a profound impact on me. Must listen!
3. Suzanne Ciani I started listening to new age since Form 3 when RFM98.8 used to have a wonderful DJ, Ah Da, who played remarkable new age music around midnight. When I first heard this inspirational piece from Suzanne Ciani - Eagle, I closed my eyes and my mind soaring high up in my imagination even though I was trapped in my room, preparing for my PMR. It really soothes me whenever I'm tensed, and that's the healing part of new age music.
4. Enya Need me to say anymore? I love music that could illustrate a particular ambience, which brings us to another world when you're fully indulged in it. Enya did it. It's indeed a remarkable experience listening to this album.
5. Kenny G For those who know me, you know how much I love christmas don't you? :) Whenever I see or hear something regarding christmas, my heart will melt simultaneously. Don't you love christmas? All the christmas carols, warm candlelight, delightful people, and most of all, the tranquility of this joyous season. Trust me, I listen to Kenny G not because I like him but his christmas album is simply irresistable.
6. Sarah McLachlan She is another singer that successfully won my attention anywhere, anytime. Her voice is so unique that you will stop doing everything and concentrate on what she wants to tell you. Angel is, without doubt, my favourite song from Sarah. Hence, "may you find some comfort here" is on my index page.
7. Jay Chow This fella here earned lotsa money from me as I bought every album of his and started regreting now. He's gifted, no doubt. But after 3 albums I find him no longer fascinating as most of his songs are written just to please the market and, of course, his boss. I doubt his sincerity even though all those fans are continuously supporting him, but I'm sure I won't buy the coming album.
8. The Phantom of the Opera Ever since Form 3, I fell in love with songs like "Music of the Night" and "All I Ask of You" from this prestigous play - Phantom of the Opera. Sarah Brightman is simply a marvellous soprano. I really look forward to watching this play in the future no matter how much it'll cost me. p/s : thanks mike for buying me the album all the way from NZ |
