He was for a time a merchant at Cheneyville, Louisiana. Apart from his brief
time in retailing, he was in railroading as an agent for the Union Pacific and
Texas & Pacific Railroads in New Iberia, Louisiana. He was freight agent at
Opelousas, Louisiana. He moved to New Orleans in 1905 and became Assistant
General Freight Agent and later General Freight Agent for the Southern Pacific
Railroad. He built a home at 6039 Coliseum. (1)
