The Sawyers

Virginia, North and South Carolina

The name Sawyer originated in Great Britain, and tells us our early ancestors were sawers or carpenters.

This page was created to help all North and South Carolina Sawyer researchers find their ancestors. These pages contain my Sawyer line which covers Virginia, (do not know where as yet), North Carolina, Pasquotank area and South Carolina, Edgefield District. I have also posted other incidental Sawyer information gathered while researching the Sawyer surname, and contains information on other Sawyer lines in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia, late 1600's forward in hopes that it will help someone find their roots.

I hope you will find some useful information on these pages and you are welcome to copy it for your own use. I make no claim that the information presented here is true, though I have tried to list sources on posted material! If you have further information or corrected information please let me hear from you along with your source.

Please bookmark this site and check back as new information will be added as research progresses.

For all of you who have "lost" Sawyers, in Virginia, North Carolina or South Carolina, I will be glad to post them to the "Wanted Dead or Alive" page.

Good Luck in Your Search for your Sawyer Roots.

I would like to thank Stephanie and Robert Scott for initially helping us find our ancestors and to the "super 8" research group for continuing to dig and dig and dig.
