About Me

Hello! My name is Chandra. I currently live in Central Florida with my three cats. I'm in the process of moving to Ft. Myers, but I'll keep you posted on the status of that as things start to happen. Here's my story.....

I was born to Richard and Martine. I have one older sister, Michelle. I have lived in Central Florida all of my life....yes, home of the Mouse. It's a great place to live...warm days, beaches, and just about anything else you can think of.

While growing up, I rode my two horses competitively on the Hunter/Jumper circuit. I have a Paint mare named Dee Delite and had a Morgan/Appaloosa gelding named Shane. Shane passed away in May of 1999 due to a leg injury. Now retired, Dee lives in the green pastures of my parents farm near Ocala, Florida with her new stablemate, TJ. I haven't ridden it quite some time, but I am considering getting back into it.

I graduated from Lyman High School in Longwood, Florida. I then attended Seminole Community College for a year before transferring to the University of Florida. I received my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, major in marketing. GO GATORS!

After graduation, I moved back to the Orlando area and started working at Hancock Information Group as a telemarketer.....no, not the kind that calls you in the middle of dinner to see if you want to change long-distance providers. It is a business-to-business firm that does lead generation, customer satisfaction studies, and appointment setting.

After two years of that, I had enough. I felt like I had a phone growing out of my ear. Thanks to a friend I met at HIG, I was able to land a job with Micro Design International, provider of mass storage systems for computers, as a Channel Programs Coordinator. Yeah...I didn't know what it was either, but I needed a job baaaadddd! It turned out to be the greatest work experience of my life. My boss was awesome and I really enjoyed what I did. Still curious? Okay already, a Channel Programs Coordinator, at least for MDI, was the person that worked with the distributors which sold their products. I helped to maintain inventory levels and begged for orders on the last day of the month. I liked the job because it was part marketing and part sales. It provided an excellent balance.

I met my future husband on a business trip to California in June of 1996. To make a long story short, I moved to California in January of 1997, got a job at Input Software, Inc. (now ActionPoint), handling their Public Relations, got married in November of 1997, moved back to Central Florida in April 1999, and now, in 2002, I'm happily divorced. Enough said!!

When I first moved back to Florida, I went back to school to finish the classes I needed for my teaching certificate. I got a job at Apopka High School teaching a computer class. BIG MISTAKE!! I only lasted 6 months. I couldn't handle the complete disrespect the kids had for the teachers and their unwillingness to want to learn.

So, I got a job with VERITAS Software, Inc. as a Field Channel Marketing Manager. My territory included the Mid-Atlantic, Tri-State, and New York City regions. I loved my job, but the travel really started to get to me. The company was incredible, my boss was the best, and my co-workers were phenomenal. I feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to work with such a terrific organization. I can only thank Kurt for this one!!

Well, all good things must come to and end, and so does my job at VERITAS. What can you do? It's never a pleasant experience to lose your job, but for some reason, I'm okay with it. I'm not okay with the lack of income, but as far as the actual job goes, it's really no big loss. I was totally burned out.

Which of course leads me to my current life's excitement....my new job with Verizon Information Services. I am the Market Manager for Florida, with a focus on the Naples/Ft. Myers area. Hence, my move to Ft. Myers. Again, I'll keep you posted as things develop with the move. Check back soon!
