Creegan Family Tree (1830-Now) My father's mother was a Creegan. This line has been traced back to Ireland with Michael Creegan. Michael may have been born about 1800 in Drogheda, Louth County, Ireland. He wed Elizabeth, whose birth may have been about 1800 also in Drogheda, Louth County before 1828. What is certain is that Michael and Elizabeth were married in Drogheda, Co Louth and they definitely had a son William who was born about 1828. The children of Michael Creegan and Elizabeth may have been the following.
The potato famine in Ireland may have left John Creegan and his brothers orphaned. In 1854 John left his home in Ireland and immigrated to the United States. He may have purchased his ticket from the McCann Family. Catherine McCann (1834-1891) had a joint ticket with her brother Hugh to sail to Baltimore, Md on the Annapolis. At the last minute though Hugh could not join his sister. It's believed that John Creegan went in Hugh's place. John Creegan and Katherine McCann arrived in Baltimore on July 5, 1854. He made his way down to Alexandria Virginia where he worked as a laborer repairing the C&O Canal. John and Catherine were wed a year after arriving in America on August 10, 1856 in St. Peter's Church, Washington D.C. The following were born to John and Catherine McCann Creegan.
