"October is breast cancer awareness
month. Breast cancer strikes 1 in 9 women. While there is no
cure at this time, there IS hope. Early detection is the key.
Women over 40 should have yearly mammograms. If there is a
history of breast cancer in your family discuss with your
doctor the need to have them at an earlier age. Once a month
give yourself a self-breast exam. Get to know every lump,
ripple and bump in your breasts so that you will notice any
changes. Relay these changes to your doctor. Above all, follow
your instincts. If you are in doubt with anything a health
care professional tells you, get a second opinion, or even a
third. Life is precious, it's your gift from God. Take the
time to take care of yourself."
