Sworn Statement of Margaret Dempsey

Regarding Pvt. Daniel Scantlin

State of Illinois Cook County City of Chicago

Margaret Dempsey being duly sworn says that during the year 1854 and the previous years she lived in the Town of Canandaigua Ontario County NY that she well knew Daniel Scantlin deceased who was a private in Co. K 98th Regiment NY Vols. That she well knows Hannah Scantlin widow of Daniel Scantlin deceased. That on the 21 day of May 1854 she was present with Mrs. Hannah Scantlin, that while with her she gave attendance during her confinement. She further says he has no interest in the prosecution of the above claim.

Subscribed and sworn before me this 25th day of March 1867. I certify that I know Margaret Dempsey that she is the person she represents herself to be that she is entitled to credit, that I have no interest in this claim.
