It was nearing evening, and along the beach were thousands of starfish that the tide had stranded. A young boy walked along the beach picking up each starfish he came across and tossed them into the ocean. A man nearby who witnessed this asked the boy, "What are you doing there, son?" The boy replied, "I'm throwing these starfish back into the ocean because the tide has left them here to die." The man told the boy, "Look across the beach, boy. There are thousands of starfish! How are you going to make a difference?" The boy picked up a nearby starfish, looked at it for a bit, and cast it into the ocean. "It will make a difference to that one," he replied.
Even though there are billions lost, each one saved will make a world of difference.
