Ruel Osborn⁷ was born in 1825. He married Syndesta Breeding in Tazewell County Virginia in December 1843. Syndesta was the daughter of Spencer and Hannah (Hicks) Breeding. Ruel and Syndesta had nine children:

James Osborn born 1844; married 1st Martha Viars in 1860 and Rebecca Gross in 1881.
Susannah Osborn born 1850 died when she was about 20 years old.
William Grayson Osborn born 1853; married 1st Maragaret Church in 1869 and Dicy Rife in 1910.
Spencer Osborne⁸ was born in January of 1857. He married 1st Hannah Rife in 1878, and 2nd Sabra Blizzard in 1910. He also obtained a marriage license to marry Sarah Davis in 1875, however it was returned unsigned, indicating the marriage NEVER took place.
Jackson Osborn born 1860 married Lydia Mullins in 1880.
Fannie Mae Osborn born 1862; married Thompson Keen in 1878.
Levina Osborn born 1864 died at the age of six years.

He married his FIRST wife (Many people believe he was married to Sarah Davis,first, however if you check the orginial transcript, you find that license was returned UNSIGNED.), Hannah Rife about 1877 in Buchanan County Virginia. Hannah was the daughter of Elijah and Malinda (Robinson) Rife. I show them having nine children:

Lucy Osborne born March 1890, married James H Coleman on Sept 23, 1909.
Mattie Osborne married Alex Meadows.
Rose Osborne married Grat Shelton.
Polly Osborne marred Joseph Vandyke. Yes, this is the same Joe Vandyke who married Malinda "Lindy", eldest sister of Polly.
