Asa came to Gordon Nebraska with his family by wagon train from
Indiana. He came with families that traveled with the Reverand
Scammahorn's wagon train which was traveling to Nebraska to found a
new religious community. His father, Solomon, and grandfather, Elza
Walls, were responsible for helping found the Methodist Church in
Gordon.
Asa and Frances divorced. Asa later married Esther Gale
Boyer and they had one child Virgil L. Walls. Asa and Esther
were living at Gordon, Nebraska in the 1920 census, and Virgil was
3 and 1/2 years old. Asa and Esther divorced when Virgil was 4.
