The following was contributed by Mary Ferne (Morrison) Franklin:

I'm not sure where Dad and his first wife lived. West of our farm, I guess. Maybe near Springdale or Aurora. After Nellie died, our mother had kept house for them. So it couldn't have been very far from North English since people didn't travel very far in those days. The oldest relative I remember was Grandma Struble. Sis took Raymond and I with her to visit Grandma Struble every Saturday afternoon. She always took her things like butter and eggs and so forth. I remember she only had 2 things for us to play with. One was one of those darning thingamajigs you put into a heel of sock and the other some empty spools for us. She always had some big sugar cookies for us. We would go out to the kitchen to get them and I can remember yet she had a weak board in her kitchen floor and we loved to get on it and bounce a little bit.
