In the 1860 census (dated June 4) for Edward's father, Patrick Lawler, there is a child Thomas E., age 3 months. In 1870 Edward is age 9 and in 1880 he is 19. As an adult, Edward T. is always named Edward T. or Edward Thomas, and his census ages put him born in 1862 (age 23 in 1885, age 33 in 1895, age 57 in Jan. 1920). Edward's tombstone in South Dakota has the dates 1863--1935. His obituary shows he actually died in December of 1934 and gives 1860 as his birth year.

Edward and his family moved to near Faith, SD in 1908 and homesteaded south of Faith. After Edward died, his widow Anna and son William moved into Faith.

Anna immigrated with her parents around 1881--1883.
