At the age of six he moved with his
parents to Vail, and later to Merrill.
Following their marriage George and Clara moved to Salt Lake City,
Utah, living there two years and then returning to Iowa.
They farmed in Plymouth County until 1931 and then ran
a restaurant and hotel in Auburn. They moved
to Carroll in 1937--1939.
George had worked at the Kisgen Cigar store for many years, and for
16 years served on the Carroll County Selective Service board.
George was a member of Holy Spirit Church, a member and past grand
knight of the Charles Carroll Council K of C and a member and past
faithful navigator of the Fourth Degree K of C. George and
Clara celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1966.
At his death he had 16 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
