William and Mary Hart didn't have any children, but they raised
Steve Hart, Jr. He was the son of Mary's brother Steve.
Steve, Jr.'s mother, Margaret Rose McAndrew, died 6 weeks after he was
born, during the flu epidemic in 1918. So Mary and William raised
Steve as their own. Steve, Sr. remained a big part of Steve, Jr.'s life, too.
Steve, Jr. (1918--1984) went on to have twenty children, 10 boys and 10 girls.
William's middle initial V. is from his tombstone.
