She grew up in North English and graduated from North English High School. She attended both Drake University and received her BA Degree from William Penn College. Doris was united in marriage to Harold W. Riess on June 7, 1938 in North English. He preceded her in death in February 1966. Doris taught a total of 28 years in rural schools (including Gritter School near North English) and at English Valleys Elementary School in North English. She retired in 1979. She was a lifetime member of the North English Christian Church, a 50year member of the Rebekah Lodge, a member of the Retired Teachers, and the international honorary teachers society, Delta Kappa Gamma. Doris became a resident of the English Valley Care Center in North English in July 2003.
Doris had 5 grandchildren at her death, but I don't know who they belong to.
