Gladys graduated from Huron High School as the school in Hetland only went through the 10th grade. She stayed with her grandparents, C.S. and Lucinda Sprague. She went to college in Watertown before teaching in country schools.
Gladys attended summer school at Dakota State at Madison, SD, during the summer of 1921. She taught Hetland town school during the 1924-5 year before her marriage and during the 1925-6 school year after her marriage.
Gladys lived in Minneapolis and St. Cloud, MN after her marriage. She enjoyed going to clubs and visiting friends. When Floyd became ill, she returned to Hetland while he went to NY for treatment. She and her sister Evelyn both went to Eastern State Normal School, then Gladys returned to teaching in Minneapolis. Floyd's illness was upsetting to Gladys, but she worked to earn a living for herself and Bob. She also worked for Honeywell making Norden bomb sights during WWII.
Gladys went back to teaching school in the Minneapolis area, earning a degree, perhaps from Bismark, ND.
Gladys moved to California about 1961 and taught in the Lompoc Schools, Pajero School District for several years, living in Santa Cruz. She retired and lived in Casa Del Sol until about 1968.
She is buried at Ft. Snelling beside her husband.
