Verna attended the Lincoln school a mile from her home and later was secretary of the district until it was consolidated with the Webster school. She and John lived on the same farm a mile north of Webster where she was born.

Her obituary said the following about her: She was a great lover of flowers and garden and all things pertaining to her home life. When any one called at the home they always received a pleasant greeting and she was noted for the good dinners she prepared for threshers. She was deeply interested in the welfare and happiness of her husband, father, mother, and sister. The loss of her sister Nellie was a great shock to and she made many trips to the cemetery to place flowers on her grave. Her last illness was long and she suffered greatly but she was always patient and cheerful and would not leave her father's home and the loving care of her husband and sister, Iva.

I'm pretty sure Verna and John didn't have any children since her obituary doesn't mention any.
