The 1910 Crawford Co. census spells her name Elsie. It is spelled Elesia in 1900.
Vic came to America as a small child with his parents. They settled in Columbus, Nebraska. He was handicapped and hunched from his youth. He was court reporter in the Fourteenth Judicial District in Nebraska for 24 years. He was also admitted to the Bar in Nebraska as a lawyer about 1925 but didn't practice due to his health.
Vic's surname is spelled in a variety of ways, but it is consistently Schober in the 1900 through 1930 censuses. In 1930 he is still in the census as single, although that conflicts with Mary Malloy Lawler's obituary, which names them as married.
