Eleanor and John lived in the Waterloo area for most of their married life. John was the son of John and Mary (Ehr) O'Connell. He and Eleanor lived in Waterloo and Tucson until 1980, when he moved to Milwaukee after she died. He served with the 58th Infantry Division in World War I.
