There are a few things I don't understand about the Miele family.
I think Bernice may have been the step-mother, not natural mother
of several of the children, Dominick in particular, at least, although
Bernice's obit names them all as her children.
Mary Flood's records name only Barbara and James as Bernice's children.
The obit of James (Sr.) names his wife as Anna, but I think
it is pretty likely James remarried after Bernice died so young.
Dominick died in May 1966, and a SSDI entry for Dominich Miele
SSN issued in IL, died May 1966 gives a birthdate of 18 Jul 1918,
clearly impossible to be Bernice's son.
Similarly, an SSDI entry for Clara Scorzo (b. 13 Jul 1917, d. 30 Oct 1993 in Chicago)
might be this Clara Miele Scorzo, but can't be Bernice's birth daughter.
Dominick's obit says he is a
``son of Ann and James.'' The Ann there probably refers to James'
last wife, although it could refer to Dominick's birth mother.
But obits for Bernice, James and Dominick all name the same
set of children of James and Bernice.
James' obit also says he was the father of the late
James and Paul Cappello, probably his step-children by his last wife.
