A CHRISTMAS MESSAGE

As Christmas arrives, as it does every year,
We hope it brings happiness, comfort and cheer.
To replace all the hustle and shopping around,
May serenity, peace and contentment abound.

The true message of Christmas is told to us clear,
The Advent of Jesus, and "be of good cheer".
The Father in Heaven has sent down His Son,
In the form of a baby for our redemption.

Let's take time to thank Him and worship His Son,
And be grateful the work of redemption is done;
For our Savior was hung on a cross for our deeds,
'Tis the best gift at Christmas, one that each of us needs.

CUPID'S ARROWS

A cute little angel, a long time ago,
Appeared with some arrows, and a cute little bow.
He smote with two arrows, both Lucy and me;
The love that we have has made sweet history.

The wounds from his arrows are fatal, you know;
We'll never be cured, wherever we go.
  Forever condemned to each other, in love,
'Cause it came to us, sweetly, from Heaven above.

THANKS-GIVING

Today is a day for giving of thanks,
For all the good things that we've got.
But let us now pray to God up above,
For His blessings on those who have not.

For many, there's war and destruction,
And thousands are hungering for bread;
And many are dying because of disease;
Neglected, forsaken, in dread.

Let's pray to our Heavenly Father
To lift and sustain, in their need.
Then offer to give them assistance,
And show them we care, by our deeds.

God has filled all our cups to o'erflowing;
We have all that we need, and to spare.
So now it is time for our giving,
To show them that we really care.

WE'RE THANKFUL

We're thankful for so many things,
Our lives are really blest;
We have our friends and lots to do,
And even time for rest.

We're thankful for the homes we have
To shelter from the storm;
For food to keep our bodies fed,
And clothes to keep us warm.

We're thankful for our family,
Where hearts are filled with love;
But most of all, we want to thank
Our Savior, up above.

He died for us, that we might live;
He paid the price for sin.
He suffered untold agonies,
That we might Heaven win.

So, pledge, we must, our lives to live
The way His Word doth say.
And gratefully His praises sing,
On this Thanksgiving Day.

TO MY WIFE ON MOTHER'S DAY

This Mother's Day my thoughts go back
To when we said "I do".
I was inexperienced,
And you, a novice, too.

It wasn't long 'til we had three,
Then five, and six, and seven.
But time elapsed;  it went so fast,
That soon we had eleven.

It wasn't easy raising them;
They gave us quite a go.
It took us almost forty years,
From amateur to pro.

I want to say how proud I am
Of you, as wife and mother.
You are my friend, my confidante,
Companion, and my lover.

MOTHER

What day is this?  It's Mother's Day,
When children honor Mother.
To thank her for her care and love
That transcends all the others.
We think of how she kissed our hurts
And brushed away our tears.
She taught us truth and confidence
And talked away our fears.

She packed our lunch and sent us off
To school day after day;
And those, too young, she kept at home
And joined in with their play.
She cooked our meals and washed our clothes
And picked up all our toys.
She settled squabbles, bandaged knees,
And quieted our noise.

A mother's job is never done;
It's full-time work, it's true.
No matter how much work she does
There's always more to do.
If Heaven grants a special crown
To one who helps another,
Then we are sure the greatest one
Will be for you--our Mother!

OUR SINLESS SAVIOR

He was just a little baby, and His heart had known no sin.
He was born among the cattle; There was no room in the inn.

But the Shepherds saw His star on high, when it shone down from the sky;
And the Wisemen came to seek this Child, Whom the Scriptures prophesied.

*****************

He was but a common man, some said, and He died, as all men do.
But He suffered on a cruel cross, to save both me and you.

He took the shame of all our sins, with the utmost agony;
And the One, Whose heart had known no sin, took our place at Calvary.

WHAT CHRISTMAS MEANS TO ME

So, what does Christmas mean to me?
Yule sounds and sights to hear and see;
Christmas carols sung with joy;
Presents, for each girl and boy.

Families come, from near and far;

Some by plane, some by car.
Lots of hugging; kissing, too.
And oh, so many things to do.

The women in the kitchen cooking,
Aromas lure us into looking.
Children running to and fro,
Youthful faces, all aglow.

The men, they gather round in pairs,
Discussing Rams and Colts and Bears.
Fords and Chevys are compared,
And views on world affairs are aired.

But Christmas means far more to me;
It is our Lord's nativity.
We'd never have a Christmas morn,
If Christ, our Lord, had not been born.

So praises sing to Christ our King;
Our lives, to Him, as presents bring;
And let us turn to Him and pray,
On this, our Savior's Christmas day.

FOLLOW THE STAR

Follow the star of Bethlehem;
It's a beacon, for all men on earth.
For it shows us God's plan of salvation,
An announcement of our Savior's birth.

Follow the star to Bethlehem,
And find that it leads to a cross;
Where God's only son was delivered,
To give of Himself, at great cost.

Follow the star at Bethlehem,
To worship God's beloved son.
Give Him your life and devotion,
And be grateful salvation is won.

Follow the star at Bethlehem,
It'll guide you, wherever you are;
You'll have peace and a life of contentment,
As you follow the Bethlehem star.

I’m Your Valentine

I’ll be your true Valentine, because I’m your friend;
I’ll still be your Valentine, right up to the end.
Angels behold us,
Our God will enfold us,
And just as He told us, His blessings He’ll send.

I pray for you daily, because I’m your friend;
And I’ll pray for you daily, right up to the end.
Prayer will maintain us,
And hope will sustain us,
I know He will train us, on Him to depend.

God’s Valentine

Long ago ere time began, the Lord, he made a plan;
Among the things He planned to make, was in His image, man.
He knew that man would make a mess of all that He created;
And would estrange himself from God, no more to be related.

So He sent His love-note down to Earth (the Bible tells the story).
In His great love for sinful man, He sent His son from glory.
He pledges love for you and me, to us it’s freely given.
Accept His son, and live with Him, forevermore, in Heaven.

God Chose My Valentine For Me

I often wondered who would be
The one true Valentine for me.
And though I searched both high and low,
Try as I might, she failed to show.
And though I dated three or four,
I always ended up, unsure.
I thought that I would never know
The one my heart had wanted so.

So then I prayed that God would lead,
And send the mate that I would need.
I asked Him to prepare my heart,
That I might truly do my part;
That in this marriage there would be,
True Christian love and unity.
That God’s great blessing would be given;
A marriage, truly made in Heaven.

And though I prayed with much belief,
I grasped the answer with relief;
For God had sent me, for a wife.
The one I searched for all my life.
The God who knew my imperfections,
Used her life to make corrections.
Two needy people, God did bless,
And gave us both, true happiness.

He Is Risen

He is risen: Hallelujah!
He is risen as He said.
Death’s dark grave no longer holds Him;
He is risen from the dead.

Hallelujah, what a Savior!
He has conquered death and grave.
Lo, His power, His love, His mercy,
Only He my soul could save.

Resurrected Christ, I praise You,
King of Heaven, Lord of lords.
How I praise You for salvation,
And all the love that it accords.
