Store History
This picture was provided to me by
the Denton family from Hadley, New York. This shows the store just
after it was moved up from the river before the valley was flooded.
The two boys sitting on the porch rode in the building while it was
moved. The store was still only one story at this time. Take note of
the roof over the gas pumps.
The second floor of
the store was begun in the early thirties but because of the Depression
it was not completed until World War II. That would make this picture
date from the mid to late forties. Now there is only one gas pump and
the roof over the pumps is gone, but you can still see where it had been
attached.
This view shows
the building before we added a room over the garage, which is one story
and on the back of the building. We believe the
garage was added in the fifties. We added the room over it in 1982.
