Here are some examples of papercutting projects I've made.
I made this papercutting with a partially symmetrical design by folding the paper along the center line and cutting both sides of the border at the same time, being careful to leave the parts where the bride's dress and veil reach the border. Then, I unfolded the paper and worked on the unsymmetrical bride and groom. The bride's dress is patterned after my own wedding dress. The banner on the top border can be personalized with the names of the bride and groom and the heart in the middle with the date of the wedding. The bottom band can hold a verse like "United in Love" , "From This Day Forward", or the place where the wedding took place. A great project to give as a wedding or anniversary gift to yourself or someone else! Print out the pattern for this project ( 8 - 1/2" x 11" sheet of paper (resize the pattern using a copying machine).
I made this papercutting of a mother playing with her little daughter to express the joy of having my daughter, Elyse. As in the previous example, this papercutting has a partially symmetrical design. The banner on the top border can have a verse or can be personalized with the names of mother and daughter. Print out the pattern for this project ( 8 - 1/2" x 11" sheet of paper (resize the pattern using a copying machine).
This design of a home is a good project for first time Scherenschnitte crafters. The whole design, except for the walkway to the house, is simple and symmetrical. Add a verse like "God bless our home" or "Home Sweet Home" on the top banner and the name of the family on the bottom to complete the design.
