National Academy Week #9 - Aug. 24 to 28, 1998

Week #9 Aug. 24 - 28 Saturday, 8/22/98 and Sunday, 8/23/98
Well, after a LONG night (make sure you check out Friday Nite from Week#8), I was up and out of Club FED shortly after 8AM. Took Jay, from U of N.M PD, up home with me. Roomy had a "prior engagement" for Saturday night and the other had volunteered to do some work at a day care that was moving. Got up home, showed Jay around town, Special K came over for dinner, I cooked. Went to the Mall so Brenton could pick up a new water bottle for his bike at his mother's. Went to DQ for ice cream and then home to watch the race on TV. Glad Gordon didn't pick up his fifth in a row. Sunday was tour guide time again. Jay took some shots of the local architecture and of our steam locomotive that runs the scenic railroad in town. Out to dinner and then up the road to Quantico, again. Only need to do it 2 more times! Actually, one. This coming weekend is a trip to Ocean City! Yee-Ha! Sun, surf and ski----oops! Sun surf and fun! Then the last trip to Quantico. Looking for a fun week here this week!

Monday, 8/24/98
Monday. Let's start off with PT. Then Chemical Agents, lunch, Legal Issues ( A WHAT? Final EXAM?!) and Budget to finish the day. Legal Final next week. Like I need it. Had no mid-term, this covers everything. After dinner - work on the budget. No fun time today.

Tuesday, 8/25/98
Some free time first thing in the morning. Yeah, free time, allright. More budget plus help Roomy work on his PowerPoint presentation for his Forensics class. 10AM - We're up first for OUR presentation. Went well. About 25 minutes worth of critique. After lunch, it was Effective Communication and then Abnormal Behavior. Good class, very interesting. Gangs. After supper it was more work on the Budget. Completed, but needed to get all the pages in order. No fun again tonight.

Wednesday, 8/26/98
Down to the CBT for Budget. Scan some stuff for Roomy and then back to the room to work on my Budget set-up. Couldn't get the gutters to match on all the pages. Needed to have the gutter because of the report cover I placed the papers in. 10AM time for PT. Lunch then 2 hrs of free time. More work on the budget. IT'S DONE!!! Stopped by "Uncle Harry's" office and handed it in on my way to the Biograph and Eff Comm. Check out a part of the Budget. After dinner, I took some time for myself and went to Mainside MCX then Gargoyle's for a mondo mocha. Back to the Academy and update the pages. I'll enjoy the tonight and start working on my final speech tomorrow.

Thursday, 8/27/98
Well, what can you say other than another one bites the dust. Our Forensics class finished up the presentations and were informed the final exam will be this coming Tuesday. Our last Challenge run was this morning. Not bad, but not as good as last week's, and this one was a little shorter. Heat and humidity came back. Hurricane Bonnie, no doubt, had a little influence. After lunch it was Behavior (Stress Management) and Legal. Went for coffee with Roomy, Igor, Barbara, and Hans. Hans is from Austria. As you remember from previous installments, Igor is from Slovakia. Helped Van McCarty, also in Section 4, distribute the Section Shirts. Start wearing them tomorrow. 2 weeks from tomorrow we graduate. Mom and Dad are already on their way here.

Friday, 8/28/98
A little PT, a little Budget, Lunch, a little..........Hey, did I say anything about the trip to Ocean City, MD? Yep, me and Roomy decided that a long needed vacation at the shore was in order. Drove down Friday afternoon. Hurricane Bonnie? Naw, wasn't a problem. A little rain when we got real close to OC, but it was pretty well over by about 8PM or so. Special K and another friend came down from up home. Had a great time Friday night. What's Saturday's weather going to be like?
