b. January 3, 1594, Hadleigh, Essex, England, D. December 2 (or August), 1693.
He married February 7, 1618, Felix Collyns, (Collins) (or Olcott) of Cardiff, Wales, who died April 7, 1671, Hadley, MASS. William Lewis emigrated from England to Boston, Massachusetts, in the ship lion, September 16, 1632. He was admitted freeman November 6, 1632 and was a member of the braintree Comapny, which came to Cambridge in August 1632. He was one of the earliest settlers, 1636, of Hartford, Conn. and was jusryman and selectman in 1641. he became one of the first settlers, 1653 of Hadley, Mass. and Joined the church January 25, 1657.
he represented Hadley in 1662 and Northhampton in 1665. Soon after his wife died he returned to FArmington. While in England he lived in 1623 in Standstead, EssexCounty, and later in Braintree, Essex County. There is a deed on filein Suffolk County mass., Deeds Vol .1 fol. 203-04, that states that John Hatch and Henry powell of London, England, as John Richards of Boston, merchant, then in London, to collect of William Lewis of hartford, CT 300 pounds for default of sending provisions to Barbados, July 17, 1651, See Lewisianna, Vol V, p-36-37, 70, 86, Vol xv, p.116,117,130-131,194,214, Vol XVI, p.25, and Vol. XVII, p.38, 63
